MG ZS EV Door handles locks faulty or is there a knack?

I have this problem also. This was discovered on day 2 of owning the car. Passenger door could not be opened from the inside, but can be opened from the outside. I booked the car in straight away. It was diagnosed as a faulty actuator and this part has been ordered. Now waiting for it to arrive and to be replaced. It was ordred on 14th December 2023.

Are we talking ZS EV ( Gen 2 ) here or MG4 ?.
I think 🤔 Miles was referring to MG 4 in the pod cast, but could be wrong?.
Recent ZS EV ( Gen 2 ) models, that have been coming through, have had issues with the front passengers door, not opening from the inside.
My brothers new silver Trophy LR was one of them, the dealer has installed a new complete new door lock / latch to rectify the problem.
At first they thought it was a sensor / actuator, but then deceived it was a faulty door catch / locking mechanism.
Here is the part number of the part they replaced.

Did wonder if it was MG4 only but couldn't find anything about it hence the post and question but have since found this, so is more likely an MG4 recall even though the ZS issue is just as problematic but seems to only have affected a relatively recent batch.

Doesn't look like I'll be getting mine back for christmas and not holding much hope for the new year!

My wife has just had a new ZS EV delivered from lease company 4 days ago, today was the first time she had passengers in it taking the kids to school but then found out when in a mad rush that both passenger front and rear door handles don't open the doors. It's like they both have child locks turned on as the handles move and aren't stiff or jammed but the doors just don't open. We've turned on and off the rear child lock but it made no difference. The doors work from the outside no problem and we also think the front passenger door has worked once or maybe twice but most times it won't and the rear never works. Just wonder if anyone has had the same issue and / or if there's a knack or if it's a fault and has to go back to a dealer to be checked over, which will be a right royal PITA..
We had a similar issue with our car that was delivered 5th Dec this year. Front passenger door wouldn’t always open & left rear passenger door never opens. Driver & right rear passenger doors are fine. Anyway, after 3 weeks I called the dealership asking if I was doing something wrong but they very quickly said they’d order in 3 new locks for all 3 passenger doors. They indicated that it was a known problem. This is all being done under warranty 👍

3 new locks for 2 doors 🤔
Think I'd warn em off the one that ain't broke...

On my Mk1 one of the rear door handles failed to operate at all, from inside or outside.
The dealer had to take all the trim off from inside with the door closed, then fitted a who!e new lock. He said I was not the only one.....
Mine's just stopped working today, nearside rear door only.
I can hear the lock operating but the door handles don't work.
Did you get it done under warranty ?

I have taken a brief look at the MG warranty T&C's and can not see any reference towards locks & handles ?.
IF it is NOT covered under warranty then as a rough guide, a complete locking mechanism for the N/S/F door ( Gen 2 ) is about £85.00 ( ish ) so not TOO spiteful in this day and age !.
Plus, I would hazard a guess at around one hour of labour to install, so roughly a total of about £200.00 ( ish ) depending on your location in the U.K. of course ???.
Unless MG agree a full / part sympathetic claim ???.
Main dealer service history helps in these situations ( trust me I know ).
My brother has just had the N/S/F complete lock replaced on his brand new Trophy LR under warranty.
The inside pull handle never worked on collection day !.
External handle worked fine.
Similar story, I once owned a brand new VW Golf and when it was only about 3 weeks old, I tried to enter via O/S/R door ( from the outside ) one day and the handle was operating correctly, but it would not release the lock / open the door.
My local dealer, actually fixed the problem on their car park in about 10 minutes.
On the VW Golf they have a flexible cable that run's inside of the door, it attaches from the back of the external pull handle, to the release point on the locking mechanism inside the door.
The tech just opened the door and with cross headed screw driver, removed a long bolt cross headed bolt, that passed through the door frame and into the rear of external door handle.
As he removed the bolt, you could see the external handle start to move, as he tipped the handle over, you could see that the flexible cable had slipped out of a guide in the back of the rear external door handle.
Therefore, the handle was operating fine from the outside, but the cable was not able to active the release on the door mechanism, as it had become detached.
After he refitted the cable, then the door handle, it worked perfectly !.
He said it MAY just slip out of the clip again, if it does bring it back.
It never got the chance, when I returned home I removed the handle again and made sure the clip
was secured in such away, it would not come out again.
Had the car for three years after this, no further issues.
I am not saying that is your problem here, but it would go someway to explain why the handle has worked fine for this length of time, then suddenly stopped working ?.
If so, it could be a quick fix hopefully !.
The most recent problems seen on doors not opening on the ZS EV models have mostly been the internal handle opening failures.
As far as I can tell, not many with internal & external problems after this length of time ?.
Please correct me if I am wrong here (y)

Thing is, although it's two and a half years old, the only time the door has been opened is when washing the car or inflating the rear tyres with my electric pump, so it's not as if it's had a lot of use.
I also looked at the warranty and although it's not specifically mentioned, it's also not listed in the exclusions.
I would argue that it's a safety issue as it would probably fail its MOT and should have lasted at least until the first MOT.

I had failure of one rear door handle - both inner and outer handles failed to open the door. It had felt clunky for a day or two. The garage had to remove the internal door card with the door closed which is hard. They fitted a whole new lock and handles and it was all done under warranty.

The specifically listed parts are the exceptions to the 7 year warranty. If not captured under one of the listed exceptions the 7 year warranty applies.

My left rear door suddenly wouldn't open from the inside.
Garage blindly wants to replace the locks ... I looked myself and sprayed thin teflon oil / wd40 in the driver's lock and it was solved after 3 clicks, it has been working perfectly for 2 weeks. same with the right side mirror that no longer folded. the lock in the driver's door is the main control.

Sounds like something has become disconnected on mine, there is a faint rattle as you operate the handle.
I can't open the door with the inside or the outside handles so don't have access to the lock to spray it.

I think yours is broken like mine was, Kithmo.
The garage knew all about it and did it all on one day, having ordered the parts first.
I think it was a known fault.
