Evening all,
I am not yet an owner of an MG PHEV, but have one on order. It is supposed to be here some time January. I have been living here in the Algarve for 20 odd years and things tend to be rather laid back shall we say. (Nothing happens as arranged so I am patiently waiting).
Looking forward to delivery of said vehicle, but the only drawback is that the only dealership of MG is in Porto, and I live near Tavira (approx. 500 Kms)! So, its a 45 min plane ride before I can even get in the drivers seat!! ( is that dedication to the mark, or just plain mental?) A dealership in Lisbon and then later one in Faro is supposed to open in the future which will be more convenient.
The Porto dealership has only been around selling MG for just over a year and there are approx 20 a month being sold. While I waited to test drive the PHEV luxury there was 3 separate customers waiting to see the manager to pay for their new purchases !! MG is hot stuff here in Portugal.
Any hoo, nice to be a member of the club at last. Looking forward to learning something from you "old hands".
All the best.

There is some great advise on this forum for the phev, but to summarize:
-All heat comes from the engine. If you ever had a cold spell, the engine needs to run to heat the cabin

-In EV mode, there is a small delay around 50MPH (80Km/h) when the EV gearbox goes from 3rd to 4th. This is normal.

-EV mode will cut out when descending a hill for a prolonged period of time - This is normal and is because the car cannot regrentate at a high rate for long, so needs engine braking to slow itself going down a hill

-The Fog lights are halogen, but are easily upgradeable to LED. A H8 LED set is needed to do this

-IF you wanted to overtake somebody, try to go into hybrid mode as soon as possible before you do as to let the oil at least circulate around the engine before being told to work at 100%

-The car has a 3.7Kw charger. The car cannot charge any faster than this, it doesn't matter if you go to a 22kw charger. Charge time on the fastest charger possible is around 3h 30minutes. On the included wall plug, it is more like 6 and a half hours

-If possible, try to use android auto or apple carplay, it is much more responsive than the systems inbuilt functions and allows you to use google maps/waze for better routing and traffic updates

-It is possible in some cases to lock the key in the car when closing it in the boot. The car should in-theory reopen the boot if it is closed in, but ive seen a few cases where this hasn't happened and the car has locked the owners out

-Do not turn off the Air con - This car has frequent reports of moisture build up leading to misted windscreens. Aircon helps prevent that

-In the exclusive, the audio sounds sup-par out the factory but it has been found that with a bit of playing with the EQ, it can made to sounds quite good. Quite a few have posted there EQ presets, but I recommend you find your own that suits you.

The PHEV exclusive has been the most comfortable car I have ever owned with the added benefit of excellent fuel economy (i get around 44 MPG (5.3l/100km) in winter driving in hybrid mode, and 330 MPG (0.7l/100km) in summer doing primarily EV mode. I hope you enjoy it.

Hi djenson
Thanks for the loads of tips that you have provided, i´m sure they will come in handy. The only problem I have ,is by the time I actually get the car I will have forgotten most of them !! I am an ancient jock who has not had to use his brain much since retiring, Consequently, I go into "BRAIN OVERLOAD" if I am given more that 2 bits of information at one time !! (you would have laughed if you had seen me doing my tax returns in Portuguese-it was almost the next tax year before I completed them !!)🤣
Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to spread your wisdom.
All the best,
