Should we be worried? šŸ¤”

100% this in my case also. First batch in October and now 100% Sorted. Even my LKA stays off!!
Its the first car we have had that even the wife loves driving. Great range, very comfortable and drives a dream. Mine had vibration/rumble and once tyres were changed its as smooth as a babys bum at all speeds!! Mines a Trophy also.
Halifax, what software version are you on.
Our LKA comes in every new trip.

Looked at all the negative stories before we got ours was worried I was making a mistake. 3k in no problems really just works since day one. Unlike our previous Leaf basically zero range anxiety as well. If this is your first EV there will be some changes in your behaviour and how to think about how far it will go. In my experience every car is different to the last, some things you like and some you miss from before. I always miss my old cars for ages!

We have had ours for a week exactly. My wife knows the shortcuts (star button) like the back off her hand and tells me how she has added two function on the right toggle button.
We have not seen an oil leak, there is no bulge yet (only 168 miles and all local).
I hope we can get our LKA to stay off permanently and the speed signs in the near future as that is the only niggle we have.
Other than that we both love the smooth ride, the acceleration, the tech in general and best of all the price.

Speaking with a friend who works for VW and has ears in both Skoda and Cupra EV depts, tells me that their prices will only come down via car show room deals but not from the manufacturer this year.

We are really happy with the 4 and, yes, for 3 months, reading the issues did have me worried.
To the point that I was considering a Cupra Born but their Infotainment issues were worse in certain areas that the 4.

I think one gauge of the level of ā€œmoaningā€ here is 2,000+ posts about a minor oil leak.

Thats about 1 post per car sold but comin from perhaps a dozen actual owners.

And some posts are downright stupid. ā€œMy doors have no drain holesā€ which isnā€™t unique to the MG 4 but people are in some instances actively looking for faults.

Generally speaking, unhappy people are much noisier than happy people.

There is at least one person i could mention in this thread thats created 10-20% of all the negative experience posts all on their own. And their posts are getting few ā€œlikesā€

My rather early car (delivered 7th November 2022) had quite a lot of faults, including the oil leak, all of which have been sorted by the dealer. There are still a few niggles and tittles, but the delightful driving experience really outshines them by far.

The MG4 still is exceptional value. Even the top of the range model costs 3000 EUR less than the very cheapest VW ID.3. Range is great. I'm doing 350 km in the cold, that's remarkable in this class. Software still is fragile, but that's the case everywhere, maybe except Tesla. A German car magazine tested the new NIO ET7, a 80000+ EUR car and the heater broke down completely. Twice. In a press demonstrator. So there's light and shade everywhere.

The best bit by far is the chassis. This is a fun car to drive and you usually don't get that in this class and price range. I really enjoy driving it every day.

That said, my competent dealership clearly contributed to my largely positive experience. Like with most novel products the "last mile" seems to be significant.

Done just over 7000 miles since collecting my SE SR in November and no issues. Turned LKA off on day 1 and it has stayed off since, even after the locking in update. Haven't looked at the undertray and no oil leak (according to the dealer when they did the update).

For a 'cheap' car it does what it is supposed to and it is a nice drive. Enjoy it when it arrives and don't stress...

I had my Trophy delivered on 30th September, first one in Greater Manchester the guy said although I didn't get any form of 'trophy' for this ;)

I've not had any major issues and the only "issues" i have now is that the door button on the drivers side doesn't work but need to take to dealer and that the Driver Monitoring System is throwing an error BUT this is a god send because it doesn't pop up every 2 seconds telling me to pay attention!

With regards to the LKA mine stays off, even after the update for the door locking so I'm not sure what's going on there so I don't have to change any settings when starting a drive.

Overall I'm super happy with my 4, there have been a few niggles yes but nothing that have put me off in any way.

It's not a minor oil leak, over time it will throw out a third of it's oil.

It doesnā€™t look minor on your drive, thatā€™s for sure

Oh no. Iā€™ve accidentally started another 2,000 post thread on oil leak BS.
You see the oil leak as a minor thing, many others donā€™t share your opinion. You are entitled to disagree of course. In your mind ā€œBSā€, for many other members very concerning.

I agree my use of the abbreviation BS was wrong.

135 page thread better suits obsession rather than BS. Apologies
OK everyone, listen up. Stop being obsessed by your oil leaks, many of which including mine have not yet been properly resolved it matters not, we have been educated. šŸ˜‚

You all need to find something else to focus your attentions on instead of your BS obsession with your minor oil leaks.

This has been a waste of everyone's time on the reduction gear box thread, @Macadoodle take note šŸ˜‰

I'll add our experince to the "positive" group. We've had our MG4 since mid-December and it's an excellent car! Yes, it has software issues, but so has my Kia e-Niro, and other cars I've owned or driven (except my son-in-law's Tesla Model 3, which is truly excellent!). So, don't let the nay-sayers put you off - it's the best car in it's class, by a long way!

I haven't posted in weeks but this is a pertinent thread for me. Ordered my MG4 in October and initially I found the whinging in this forum really odd, especially certain people who are here every single day saying the same things over and over.

However, as time has gone by, the more I've read here and the more MG have messed me about with delaying my delivery date several times (despite having the exact spec of car for sale on different forecourts around the country) the more I've started looking at other options. The large Tesla price cuts in January were a big deal IMO and this last week they've taken another Ā£3k off a lot of cars in their inventory so today I cancelled my MG4 order and I've bought a Model Y which is available for collection immediately. God knows when my MG4 would have turned up.

The MG4 and the MY aren't comparable cars at all so no point in trying to explain it in detail but if I had to pick one thing that made me cancel the MG4, it's not any specific technical fault with the car, it's the multitude of threads on here and in facebook explaining about how some dealers have behaved when problems needed to be fixed. So, in hindsight, I'm actually grateful for all of the whinging after all :)

Oh, and before anyone says that Tesla are just as bad. Maybe they are but I've previously owned a Tesla so it's a known quantity to me and a lower risk in my eyes. They were actually very fast to fix the minor niggles that I had with my M3. Better the devil you know and all that...

Anyway, good luck to all of those with their MG4's. I'll keep an eye on how things go and I hope things pick up as more and more cars are delivered. There's going to be thousands of them on our roads soon enough so the dealers are going to up their game I'm sure.
