Hello, anyone having trouble with connecting the car and iPhone via Apple Car play? Should be a case of plug and play according to the log book but I cannot get it to work. Bluetooth works fine.

Try on the iphone, go to settings and your need to find car play, click on this then use usb lead without bluetooth to connect, the display comes up on the head unit and you should see the mg app showing which means everything works.
Just check and cancel if its left a bluetooth setting.

Managed to get it to work - not sure what did it. Updated iPhone to the latest software, tried more cables etc. If anyone else has trouble I would suggest making sure you have the latest iOS running on your iPhone, make sure you are using an official Apple cable, use the usb socket closest to the driver (not the one with the phone symbol), have the phone unlocked before it is plugged in.

Can anyone confirm if when using CarPlay you can get voice feedback to come through the car rather than from the phones speaker?

On the test drive vehicle, my phone connected fine to Apple Car play, so the screen was loaded and I could navigate and play music (absolutely love how smooth the interface is) fine. The music came through the car audio system, but if I tried to use Siri for example (even using the steering wheel control), i could very barely hear the voice, I was trying to find volume controls for it but couldn't, then realised that Siri was speaking through my phones speaker instead of the cars speakers. the phone appeared to be connected correctly and I can't see any additional options. I thought maybe voice comes through bluetooth instead, but it can't be that as it actually says you can't use the bluetooth connection while connected to carplay via USB

Anyone have any experience of it?

I asked the dealer, their response was that they'd never used it. o_O

You absolutely should. When using CarPlay in my Ioniq, nothing comes through the phone speakers. That's kind of the point.
And when the phone is plugged in, no, you shouldn't have a Bluetooth connection simultaneously.
And with the phone unplugged so you're using Bluetooth, pressing the voice button (on the steering wheel?) should activate Siri through the infotainment system.

Having said that, and coming from a computing background, I can say that bugs and crashes happen, so if it's not behaving as expected, unplug and re-plug in the phone. And if that doesn't work, restart the phone.
I've had to do both of those before.

Thanks Stuart, also from computing background here so those were all my go to first thoughts also. Might have to find the master reboot switch for the car itself

Apple CarPlay works great with iPhone while connected by USB cable (driver's USB slot), but as soon as I remove the cable and try it with Bluetooth connection then the iPhone connects to Bluetooth fine, but CarPlay is not giving the "green" light. So there must still be something that is denying CarPlay to be used wirelessly. (Latest iPhone software/latest MG update is done).
Any ideas?

I don't think the ZS has wireless CarPlay - there's only really a small number of cars that have Wireless CarPlay so far, so think you'll have to be connected by cable for CarPlay. I'll hopefully get a chance to play with it next week (excited!).

Ok, thank you Portgordon. I tried several things to get it working, so was in doubt if there was some other way.

It’s expensive!.
Not as expensive as a car with wireless car play or changing the stereo system, if you want wireless CarPlay. But it’s def more expensive than just using the cable.

The suggestion was just for the person asking about wireless carplay

When my car is connected to Apple car play occasionally when I get a call come through the screen goes off and I can’t answer the call. Any ideas as to what’s happening?
