Ok ive got UK power coming soon to upgrade my fuse to 100 amps everything else is ready (meter tails etc..) I'm on Octopus Go tariff and as I have a PHEV only need to ability to charge between a small time window

So now I just need to decide on which home charge point to go for. I've been thinknig about the EO Mini Pro (£650 installed inc grant) until i'd looked at the google app reviews theyre all so negative barely scoring 2 out of 5 stars.!! then again looking at others they all seem to be the same....

Now this might be because people tend to leave reviews when they have a bad experience... but its stumped me as to which to go for the Easee one cosmetically looks better but is more expensive around £800 installed (inc grant)

Of course its not all about cost its about reliability

Any thoughts?

EDIT : Do any of the apps allow charging to 80% only?

I have an Ohme cable charger connected to a commando socket. It worked out around £450 for a local electrician to install the socket without any OZEV grant and
using the Octopus £199 offer for the box. I already had a TT earth rod installed. It's very discreet and has worked perfectly since installation. Uses a SIM for connectivity just in case you're somewhere with no mobile reception

Hypervolt. The company has a 5* Trustpilot rating. There is a Facebook group and if any issues arise then the CEO will address them.

Mine has worked perfectly since I got it.
Does these come with an untethered option?

Hi March 13
I agree with SimonomiS you are on Octopus go so you can get a Ohme charger for £199 from them, then get a electrician to do the work explained above.

I have ordered an MG HS PHEV and was informed that there were no grants for the installation of a wall power supply.
Some HS PHEV's do and some do not?
Confused......

How secure does that make it? From what I understand the EO Mini Pro type will lock the charge cable into place..?

I'm having a Hypervolt installed next month. Chose it in part because it's relatively sleek, but mostly because I have only heard good things from people who have one. My install of it is costing about the same as you've had for the EO Mini
I have had my Hypervolt now for a month and its been great. App is easy to use and set timer etc, would definitely recommend.

Just found the Governments list of eligible vehicles:

MGHS Plug-inCar
MGMG5 EVCar
MGZS EVCar

Seems the dealers grant information is out of date!

I have an Ohme cable charger as well. Taking grants and installation cost into account, I think I paid something around £600 or thereabouts. I have been using it for 2.5 years and I am pretty satisfied with it.

Now i'm thinking this might be an electronic lock on the charger supply and not a physical one
If your thinking of buying the mini pro, make sure it will communicate with the mg, there only seems to be a few chargers on the market that work with MG.
we had an Ohme fitted to work with our ZS, which during 2020 was great on the agile tariff, but we did have a lot of problems with the Ohme tripping the supply and generally not working as advertised.
So last week we had our hypervolt delivered, just need to fit when the armoured Lan cable turns up. ( the ohme is going to go in the bin!)
as for untethered, I think you might get a bit fed up of having to get the cable out of the bag then plug-in, charge, then coiling it up, put it back in the bag, etc just think what it’s going to be like during winter!
when you have a tethered all you do is uncoil and plug-in, then in the morning just unplug and coil up (I can coil ours up and get it on the hook without touching the cable.)

An installer I spoke to recently has talked about the SYNC EV unit seem to be a more advanced version of the EO Mini Pro
