Hello. My zs has stopped accepting CCS rapid charge and seems to have a communication issue with any CCS charger - any brand of charger.
It does not always lock the CCS plug into the car as well but if it is wiggled and the car locked and unlocked it might lock the CCS plug into the car but still it fails to communicate with the charger.
The car has charged on a CCS charger when I 1st got the car in the summer of 2020 so it was working. Later the car has had software updates, a fuse update so the car can charged while you sit in it, the dodgy BMS update and later the update to sort the balancing of the batteries.

Early this summer around June 21 the car failed to charge on a rapid CCS charger and I put it down to the charger. I found it is the car as I tried 6 different CCS chargers/brands and none of them can communicate with my zs EV to charge it.

I normally charge my car at home on a granny charger and I don't use the CCS charger and hi-lighted above the only times I have used it.

So has any one else had issues with CCS chargers on the ZS? And the plug not locking into the car and not communicating with the car/ charger?

If so what corrected the issue?

Cheers in advance

No but I will give it a try. Thanks

some brands of CCS chargers dont seam to work with ZS.
we should set up a thread of failed types of chargers... abd those that consistently work.

my favourite is instavolt.. not let me down yet... although the speed does slow down when more than one car is charging.

Hey,
Other than the odd failure which fixed itself, I havent had any persistent issues with CCS chargers. I have used Instavolt, Geniepoint, BP Pulse, and a few in other countries. Swarco I could never get to work but I only tried it twice. Sounds like an issue with your vehicle.
cheers

I.m thinking it could be an issue with my car too. I.m going to disconnect the 12v 1st and see if it makes a difference by resetting it. If not it's a 50 odd mile journey to the dealers 😔 unless any other successful experiences are mentioned.
Thanks to all so far 😊

So I have completed the 12v reset and still it does not work. Looks like it's off to the dealers which I really don't want to do as it's so far away and just consumes so much time. 😔

Silly question but have you tried lifting the cable handle when first connecting to make data pin is talking to charger? Could be your car socket being a bit out of whack.

Yes tried wiggling it and holding it in different positions but no joy.

I just wanted to add that last time I rapid CCS charged it was a year ago and only ever used it in the city so I always charged at home with no issues. So it's not been rapid charged for a year😱

Snap, my car has exactly the same issue and i could copy your initial thread to the word! My car is booked in to the dealership on Monday to have the issue investigated, luckily my dealership is about 100 metres away! I will let you know how I get on.

Awesome! that would be great to know what the fault is after they look at it. I will await your reply. cheers

I had a problem at IKEA Manchester a couple of weeks back where the new Gridserve charger showed “connection error” where the CCS plug entered the car.

I checked several times to make sure it was correctly inserted and pushed in all the way but it didn’t work, so couldn’t boost my car for the journey back to Blackpool.

I ended up doing a half hour trickle charge on the service area using an old Ecotricity unit, which was enough to get me home.

My Credit Card was charged £12.00 for supplying zero electric, after complaining to Gridserve this was returned.

🤔 So a problem with the CCS rapid charge connection could be a common issue then with a few cars. Do you use the CCS rapid charger very often on your vehicle or very rarely?

Mine has very rare use as I normally complete city and A road driving and charge at home.

Forgot to ask Andy - how often do you use the CCS charger on your ZS? A few times a month or rare usage for example?
Just asking to see if the issue has come about after our similar usage frequency. Thanks.

I had a problem several months ago with Ecotricity. I rang the help line, and I was asked if the car window was open. It was, so I closed it, and the charge went well.

Unsure what that was about, but it seemed to sort the problem.............................:D

Thanks for info but I did also go through that as well on all the chargers but no joy.

Less than rare, always charge at home. I did use when I first got the vehicle whilst awaiting home charger installation and it worked. It has had a service and software update in meantime and when I went to use on a long trip found it didn't work anymore! Vehicle is in garage at mome
nt and wonder if the software update mucked things up. Doesn't communicate with CCS at all and on type 2 rapid only at 7kw max(no matter what the charge rate of charger is).

Yes mine is the same situation (I very rarely use CCS charger) so it could be either lack of use related issue or again like you said the software has some thing Todo with it.
Let's see what the dealer says! Good luck.🤞
