Comfort Pack 2 Update MG ZS EV

I live near Basingstoke and bought my MG ZS EV from Bulldog Twyford as it was the nearest dealer; I collected it in February this year..
The service engineers at Bulldog are great and very helpful. I complained about the horn beeps when a front seat passenger gets out of the car and they found out, to their complete amazement that it also beeped if a rear passenger got out, which is crazy and is obviously a system design error.

I take a colleague to the local hospital or surgery twice a week and it is most embarrassing when they get out the car and the horn toots. people look round and think we need assistance, It was very hot last week and when sitting in the surgery car park I opened my drivers door to get some fresh air and then the internal chimes went off - 24 times in all and much to the amusement of those around, which is not a very good advert for MG.

The after sales manager at Bulldog said these things don't happen if the vehicle is left switched on, which I think is hardly wise advice.

Hi,

ALL this will go away if you get all the comfort pack updates (some dealers will do it free, others will charge you about £90). All I will say is this "the car is MUCH more civilised and quieter once done and even if you have to pay it is worth every penny to get rid of the irritating bongs and disturbing and embarrassing 3 beeps of the horn ".

The update is much more than just the bongs and the dreaded 3 beeps of the horn but even for just this it is worthwhile, you will hear the horn only once if you try to lock the car with a door open or as a couple of us have done just recently tried to lock the door with the motor still in the ready mode.

GET IT DONE, you will not regret it.

Regards

Frank

Had my Comfort Pack 2 update yesterday from Stoneacre Derby who I bought the car from. Took 3 hours and they let me use a spare desk to work while I waited which was nice. They also replaced a drivers side wiring harness (a recall) at the same time and as I bought the car from them they only charged me £60 (£50 + VAT).

Loving the total lack of bongs, the new once only chime, the permanent range average on the driver's display, the outside temperature on the centre console (even though I spend most of my time while driving in Apple car-play which as of yet doesn't show it). I've yet to discover other things that have been added/changed.

Painless at £60 and well worth every penny.

Good news Paul, I bought my car from Stoneacre Derby....I think I was their first EV customer, in July last year.

I live in Allestree and am into Classic Cars. If fact I got back home at 2 am this morning, with my latest 'treasure' a 1982 TR7 convertible...following a nightmare trip. from Wales...which lasted 16 hours!!

..please feel free to pop around anytime you're passing.

Just had Comfort 2 update done at cost of £90. On driving away noticed range was not showing in central binacle - still the clock. So turned around and went back. They tried putting in the USB again but still no range on permannet display. Have to take it back on Monday for it to be redone......grgghhhh

....and took it back on Monday and waited while they did it - took a couple of hours. Checked before driving off and range was showing in central binacle (yipee); temperature showing; bongs OK BUT.......this time the auto high beam manual shut off was not there. Why don't they just check before handing back the car instead of believing what the computer tells them????? So.......back I go. Service Manager now looking a bit worried so comes out with his own usb which thankfully did the trick in 10 minutes.

This was the dealer I bought the car from and it hasn't filled me with the confidence to trust them with the future servicing - I may have to go further afield

Stl, now it's all done it is a much more plesant drive.

Glad you've got it sorted.....but I would definitely look elsewhere for future servicing......they don't exactly instill confidence.

I was getting used to the, bongs, but having watched the video showing all the benefits of the comfort Pack 2 decided to have it done. No charge at Barnes Canterbury. Being done next week. I hope to be as happy as the man in the video was. Will post again when it’s done.
Did you get charged for the update or was it free?

Hi all
I picked up our new Car on Saturday first thing I checked was if outside temp was showing ?.

It Was but the range on the screen between the two dials isn't so leads me to think this hasn't been updated correctly. Already spoken to Glyn Hopkins Milton Keynes waiting for update today.

Allthe updates were agreed to be done as part of the pdi and free of charge.

The car was all good not very clean I must say well inside was a bit dusty.

I have read this post from the beginning and there is some great info and ,detailed explaination of how this all works.

On the battery range I like you of you looked at the cars around to get the best for me.
I looked at the Kia and Hyundai and the spec was great and range was very good.

The Kona has two battery packs 1 is 39kw i belive the other 64kw, reading back there is this safety built in to battery life.
Could this be why the 39kw on the kona is 189 miles range when our 44.5kw is 163 miles and could there be a bit of range to be had if the software permits,Or is it too with motor used.
Just asking to understand more.

Same happened to me when they did the update the first time - no rane showing in central binnacle. They had to redo it a second time and then the high beam adjust was missing (when they do yours again check this first). They had to put in the USB again to get the high beam adjust installed - that only took 10 minutes.

Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks for that I will check, just wondering if they will call me or ill have to chase them ? which I shouldn't have too.

The range depends on more than just the battery size, although that is relative. For example, the differences in weight and shape of the vehicle would factor into it too.

Yeah I did think of that after, the MG is a bigger car then the Kona.

The eZS has 42.5 kWh usable. How much range depends on your driving and conditions. My GOM was showing 216 miles range of full charge. If I change from eco to sport that estimate will drop by 20 miles, if I turn on HVAC the range will lower again. If I was on motorway at 70mph I would expect 120 miles range. While driving around town with lots of level 3 regen it will be closer to 180/200.

Glad someone else has there GOM showing 216 as mine shows 218 on a full charge in ECO mode with all fans and heating or cooling turned off..

Hi Lee
Yeah your driving style will have an impact but it was more a case of kona 39kw 189 miles MG 44.5 kw 163 miles . Why the difference, some of that would be car size and weight.

But I was also thinking is it also the safety margin built in to the battery pack as MG Tech said.

So there could be a range increase if there was a large saftey margin builtin with an update should they wish too.

I don't know and as long as I can drive it to how I like it is what it is ? and I'm looking forward to a trip soon to Wales.
