Have an expected date!

Just to clarify, a/c charging with unlocked doors seems to be from the August hvb fuse update and not from comfort2.

I believe timed charging was implemented in earlier bms update.
Ahh, Getcha! It is a little confusing with all these updates, It would be good to have a list, haha. I would have "thought" that all the updates would have been done, but I'm guessing not. I'll try again tomorrow when I have a little more time :)

Looks like trickle charging is on, on the unit, so I've emailed to have it turned off, not so much of a problem on the weekend as it's 8p per Kw/h at the moment, but don't want it running if/when I'm using it outside the cheap rate 😬

@lee graham Just had a thought mate, Does the car start charging with the doors unlocked AND open? or just with the doors unlocked but closed? I looked with the doors open and it wouldn't charge, but I did close them and not lock, but didn't leave it very long to see if that was the case.
Edit: Actually I'm not sure if you can tell me as you've not charged on AC yet?

Yes the car starts charging with the door wide open, you can hear the charging cable lock.

I have used my home charger for maybe five minutes, enough to test.

Edit: I’m out testing, and the charging cable auto locks as soon as you open door with charger attached. And bonus photo

Interesting! When I was testing earlier, I plugged in the car, locked the door and the cable locked in and started to charge straight away. However when I unlocked the door the info screen still said "Charging" for approx 10 seconds. then said something along the lines of "Connected but not charging" then the charger didn't kick in the info screen dimmed out to black and it didn't start charging again until I'd relocked the car.
Edit: I'd also set the Rolec point to "boost" mode, so that I knew it wasn't waiting for a timed charge or anything

Mine only charges when locked, I got it this July, before the August BMS update.
Not a problem for me as I'm not likely to be sitting in or with the car for several hours on a fast 7kWh charger as it charges, I will be locking it anyway.

I can’t think of a good reason to open the car doors while ac charging. Maybe you wake up at 3am and realise that you left something vitally important in the car??

Its more of a test to see how up to date your car is.

Yeah that's the only reason, just wanted to test how updated it is.

I had a thought a few days ago when I was using a Chargemaster fast at Mablethorpe. The charge costs a very reasonable 18p per kWh but there's a £1.50 minimum. So if I start a charge I have to put in 8.3 kWh to use this up before it starts adding to the cost. To start and stop the charge you have to use the Polar plus app. I wondered if I unlocked the car before I'd used up the £1.50, say to get something out of the car, would it stop charging and then would the charger start again and cost me another £1.50 or would it just carry on from where it left off ?

Had a little drive locally around 50 miles round trip, car performed like a dream and it's just cemented that I never want another ICE car
Managed to get 4.0kWh per mile, which I was happy with, as I'm quite a.. interesting driver.
I gave the car a brief charge last night which was to about 98%, used up 1 reticule on the battery charge and plugged it in again when I got home, which gave me full battery in about 1.5 hours :)

@Kithmo Thats a good point, you might need to access car if you were slow/fast charging at the supermarket. I don’t know the answer to the polar question, but I would bet that it would cancel charge and keep money.

@Septian You have my curiosity, I wonder what interesting could mean. And yeah over 4m/kWh is easy to achieve even with heavy acceleration.

@lee graham the dealer believes all updates have been done, they are letting me take the car in to be plugged in to see if any of the updates have failed, I mentioned being able to charge on AC with the doors open and he was still adamant that the car should stop charging when you open the doors. I'm going to see them next Tuesday, so I'll report back then, either they'll come back and say it wasn't done, or try and fob me off with something like "works as expected"

I could make a video and upload it to youtube?

Easiest way to test would be to start a charge with the door ajar, just the charging port should lock.

That would be brilliant thanks mate, I successfully did a timed charge last night, but from what I've read that was fixed ages ago, I've seen a few reports of people getting stuck after rapid charging that need the update, so I wanted to make sure it's completely up to date as I have a fairly long trip coming up in the next month.

Also, I did try that once, the car just says "Connected but not charging" if I have the door open.
Another thing I was wondering, how do you get the car to release the cable if opening the car doesn't stop the charging anymore? haha

Grrrrr

There is some truth in what they said, many water based paints are softer than old horrid to the planet paint systems.

HOWEVER, that is all the more reason to wash And dry it properly! I’m afraid I ask for the car not to be washed at all now.

I'd just like to correct this, as it keeps coming up, and it's just nonsense! Current paint systems use a water based colour coat to help reduce the use of solvent based, more harmful paint systems. However, the finishing coat is still a clear solvent based lacquer. This is the same as it's ever been and is not "softer", or any different to what it ever was!!

Any scratching is down to incompetent dealer staff, full stop, not "softer paint". As has already been said, it's best not to let anyone else wash your car except yourself, or trusted, reputable detailers, if you're particular about keeping the paintwork nice.
