Holdcroft Cheshire Oaks - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

Does anyone have any experience of Holdcroft Cheshire Oaks?

I've been trying to book my ZS EV in for a service Over a couple of days I've called and either been put through to sales or 'the guys are busy at the moment'. The last time I called, a sales guy took my name and number for a call back. I'm still waiting 5 days later.

There are other dealers in the area I may try but I'm put off Holdcroft Cheshire Oaks if it's this hard just to book my car in.

It seems they're still not interested in having people's business. They recently advertised some stock coming in, I emailed to enquire about what they had available. No response. I ended up buying elsewhere. Having done so, I then contacted them again to enquire about service plans. No response again. 😕

Similar to my experiences then.

I take my ZS to Gallaghers at Sandycroft now. It's only a small place but the service is great and they get back to you!

I assume that Holdcroft make enough money already from Honda so don't want MG EV business 😜

@Stuart Wright, can you add Gallaghers of Sandycroft to this forum? I think it's missing.

I believe the dealership at Cheshire Oak's is a relatively new MG dealer to that area.
They maybe good ? .............. I have now idea ??.
But personally, I would be a little nervous letting a new dealer with little experience on EV's close to my car.
Gallagher's in Sandycroft have worked on my previous ZS EV.
But like a lot of MG dealers, nobody had even lifted the bonnet on an EV until the ZS EV came along.
A basic service on an EV is pretty straight forward affair.
Fault finding and rectification on an EV is another matter.
Only speaking for myself here, I would prefer to offer my car to somebody who has a lot more experience on working on EV's myself.
The Chorley Group on the other hand, have been working on EV's like the Nissan Leaf for years and has now moved that knowledge and experience across onto the MG ZS EV.
For us, they are not just around the corner of course, about a 150 mile around trip in fact !.
But they would be my preferred / go to option.

I'm sure I saw them on the list already...

I have recently had a first service on my ZS EV 3500 miles by Holdcroft at Cheshire Oaks.
unlike other posts on here that have had a service sheet with engine oil checks, and gearbox oil etc ticked off on a ICE service sheet I got a proper ZS EV check list. No problem making a booking, but did have to wait 3 weeks from day of booking……
and the good news….. a low mileage service cost £31.98

Great to hear of an experience much better than my own. Maybe they've seen some of the comments made here and decided to start taking people's money!

MG now outsells Honda in the UK, so if that is their business model they are backing the wrong horse.

Thought I'd give them one last chance as my local dealer to email me a service plan quote. No response again.

Update to my above: I decided to call in as I was passing, turns out they're having some technical problems so are unable to take calls or emails. Managed to get a quote and signed up today, not the cheapest but the most convenient, and I did get a good professional impression while I was there. See my post in Arnold Clark Liverpool for the other extreme...

Another update: had my 1st MG5 service here today, all very straightforward and professional, even got told to help myself to tea or coffee while I was waiting to collect it. Interestingly, they don't offer the low mileage service plan, but do offer the low mileage services individually, so I was able to cancel the plan and just pay for the service. Just over £30 instead of £97 😊 Plus they renewed the AA membership automatically, whereas I've had other dealers say they know nothing about that despite it being all over their website, so that gives me confidence in them following the right systems etc.
