MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

You sure all HS? I'm expecting a blue ZS from B&G's
There were blues but as i was on the fast lane didn't see clearly if they were zs, hs or for the matter of fact EVs/fossil for sure.

I ordered in Feb (motability) and have currently had a date of August (originally May/June).
If it's any longer than that then I'm in a bit of a pickle as I need the higher seats and a hoist for my powerchair as it's getting harder to lift it.

Not sure there are any options other than to struggle through though :(
Good luck on the revised date everything crossed for you considering your needs! hope that they manage to fulfill these order backlogs. Every manufacturer seems to have the same delays. Hopefully all this luck giving boomerangs back to me at some point 😄

Update from my dealer today - For the last year as all of us know there has been delays due to the chip shortages and now adding to the delay is the Russia - Ukraine war. During the Chip shortage period many dealers have placed fake orders (Fake orders in general is a common practice). And MG is aware of this. However due to the chip shortage issues causing delays in the production, MG insisted to all dealers not place fake orders. Many dealers however still continued to place the fake orders. Effective 8th April 2022, MG started to scrutinise every order and the Dealers and began to charge a penalty of £.1500/- for each fake order and pulling the fake ordered vehicle out of them. Where did the vehicles go? - They are being and have been sent to the dealers who are following the rules and are in good relations with MG. If you have booked your vehicles through any of those good dealers, and if you have paid the full cost of the vehicle during booking, and if the withdrawn vehicles from the dealers who did not obey MG's instructions match your order, you will have a better chance of getting your vehicle earlier than the rest. Many of such vehicles are being delivered to customers from this week onwards.

If this is the approach MG are taking, then they are going down the wrong road.

It's one thing to restrict orders unless they have a customer attached, and sanction dealers who don't abide by whatever the network requirements are. It's another thing altogether to essentially penalise the end customer by getting your car later, because you unknowingly picked a sh*tty dealer. This sounds so childish and unprofessional... MG can't get along with their dealer network, so make some customers wait longer? If there's any truth to that I'd rather take my money elsewhere.

Furthermore, who pays for their car fully upfront when buying direct from dealer? Why would anyone shell out £30k to a company and potentially run into issue getting their money back when delivery isn't met.

Something sounds incorrect here. It'll be interesting to see what information Miles gives on delays, in the upcoming podcast.

I dont think any of this makes any sense. It's all speculation and there is no way of confirming any of it. While it makes sense for MG to cancel stock orders, and the ordering of ice. It is also true that they know that every car they produce they can sell and some. So to me, it looks like they are saying to the dealers allocate names to those stock orders and if you don't we will cancel it. With the demand outstripping their supply capabilities at the moment there is no need to carry stock. I think its that simple. I think the whole thing is getting out of hand and entering conspiracy theory territory..The cars will arrive when they arrive. And yes MG UK should get the addresses from every MG dealership for every real deposit paying customer and write directly to them with the full situation explanation. MG UK need to take some responsibility to both their customers and dealerships as we are all being treated as mushrooms. But the cars will still arrive when they arrive.

Right?? I don't doubt that's what the dealer told @ferbie at all... I just question whether it's correct that if you didn't buy through a "good" dealer you're essentially shoved toward the bottom. It's that which seems ludicrous to me.

Yes, Hugh Jass and Mike Rotch are going to be very disappointed when they hear that their orders have been cancelled.

Sounds like a typical salesperson making up a good story to impress the customer and make them think they are better - haha.

It's common knowledge that MG told dealers they would be penalised if they didn't cancel stock orders or allocate them to a real person who's paid a deposit (which can easily be audited as there will be a receipt for the deposit with a date stamp, so pretty hard for the dealer to get around it by lying now).

It's also common sense that if they cancel orders those vehicles, if already built and assigned, will be reallocated to other dealers which, in some cases, may mean people who ordered later get their cars sooner if the colour/model is right (we all know it's pot luck what turns up on the ships).

Everyone is tense because they all want their vehicle to turn up but please don't take every word you read as the absolute truth your honour 😉 after all, we are dealing with sales people who have a reputation for bending the truth and are in a pretty sticky situation at the moment with no vehicles to sell.

There is the odd car appearing (dealer stock orders / cancelled etc). If you have the time and flexibility on spec I’d suggest ringing round a few dealers and see if they have anything. Might be a waste of an hour.. but might just pay dividends. Some on here have got lucky and consequently got their cars quicker than others (like you and I) waiting on orders.

It's not only MG having problems,

But at least they're being open about it. I don't see why MG/SAIC can't do the same, & tell customers simply what the current production time is

It's not so much the wait as it is the fables if you're lucky enough to actually hear from a dealer.

GRAND VICTORY IS NEXT VESSEL TO DOCK AT PORTBURY ON 9TH MAY COME FROM SHANGHAI . ON IT WAY THROUGH THE SUEZ CANAL. ONLY STOP WAS SINGAPORE TO TAKE ON FUEL. HOPEFULLY MG
Anybody more savvy than I, know if this is the only one currently due here that may carry MG's?

Nice story, whoever made it up should become a fiction writer, politician or used car salesman.
