Frasers Falkirk - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

Well done Archev, think that's a good move but being an old git I'd need to try the getting in and out exercise !
Having said that, currently planning to hold on to the ZS EV until the Tesla model 2 comes out looks like something I would go for at the price quoted...
I would expect the launch date in the UK to be delayed, and the price to be higher than what was originally quoted.

Did you have to lay down after your " few times" also re the 20.00 charge at Ikea, disregard as it is a holding charge which basically means they capture the money then release after a few days back to your account so...the cost of the charge was 3.97 which is good (my bad) :-(
No no I think we have fully recovered 🤣. Phew - that’s not so bad on the IKEA charge then. Still a bit of a cheek charging so heavily for the “privilege?”.
I’ve just instigated a top up / equalising session from Granny in preparation for a bit of a road trip up to Banchory, Kincardineshire on beautiful Dee side in the morning. Might need a wee top up on the way back in Brechin (still free I think ?)

Have a good trip young man, have you seen the vid on granny charging on this site? worth a watch

My comments on the Zap-Map chat today-
“CCS working perfectly today. Had some kWs on the road north at lunch time. Also a very fine lunch for us at the nearby Auld Bakehouse (soup superb). Now heading south and need a top up to make it home. Excellent.”

Just completed my trip down from Aberdeen to Falkirk for my first service.
I’ve been slightly apprehensive about the trip on two counts:

1) Charge Place Scotland are still going through some difficulties with the network switchover to Swarco. I havent received my replacement RFC card yet so would have to rely on the app (tested it at a local charger last night and it did work though).

2) The distance. The trip planner showed 121 miles for the trip, and the GOM was showing 156. I have done the trip before when I bought the car so know it can be done, but still!

Because the numbers look good, I want to attempt it in one go, so decided to head early to the Falkirk stadium where the charging hub is and fill up at a rapid before heading to the dealership (to save me time after the service).
Glad I did as well, as the car doesnt really help with Range anxiety. With 37 miles left on GOM and 28 miles to the stadium, the HV battery low warning comes on (yellow battery on the dash) and one bar left on the battery. Anxiety increases.
With I think it was around 20 miles left on the GOM and 11miles to destination this starts flashing, followed by turning red and advising that aggressive driving is not recommended. Anxiety increases.
It’s fine though! Rolled into the charging hub with — — — miles on the GOM.

No other cars there, so popped into the stadium for a toilet and a breakfast having attached to a 50kW rapid and had no issues starting the charge. When the charge commenced it showed 6% in the battery. I really wish the car would just display this graphic of the battery all the time, or show it when you flick the battery switch.

Another MG ZS arrived just as I was heading to the stadium - I would have stopped for a chat but I was absolutely bursting!!

Breakfast finished, returned to the charger which was still going. 56mins, 35.2kWh, £8.82. Probably a tad on the expensive side, but still a heck of a lot cheaper than when I recently drove Aberdeen-Edinburgh-Aberdeen in the diesel - full tank @£56.

Dropped the car of at Frasers and took a walk around the Canal to visit a mate for a coffee.
Took a little bit longer than I was hoping it would (was told I’d get a call in about an hour and a half, but made my way back after 4 hours and it was sitting ready. I wont make it back up the road in time for my kids martial arts class now, but they did apologise for the weight and I got an MG Bear! I’d also need to stop in Dundee for a top up charge on the way home (as i wont be leaving with a full tank of electrons this time). Ended up getting home with again 0 miles of range for about 10 mins!

all in happy with the 1st service (service plan)

Infotainment got an update yes. I didnt get the update to enable charging when unlocked, but if I wanted it they’d do it. I’m not actually fussed about it

If you are down that way again look into what councils charge for charging. Currently West Lothian and Stirling dont charge whereas Falkirk and Fife do. It makes a fair difference on your wallet. Also got really good free charges in Angus where there seem to be lots of good new reliable chargers.

North and South Lanarkshire are free just now too

Had my MG 5 LR serviced at Frasers of Falkirk yesterday. Cost £99.60. Took about 2 hours including the KERS 3 update. They did offer to wash the car but I declined due to my OCD.

All went very smoothly with good communication throughout. Very friendly and painless. Teddy bear duly given. I live in Glasgow but am happy to travel to Falkirk as the service is great.

Also has a fine lunch at the Boardwalk restaurant, which is about 5 minutes walk away.

The last year of car charging has cost us £157 with SSE economy 10 tariff ( ten hours in the day at off peak rate - heating, hot water, washing machine etc. and now car charging all timed between 04:30 and 07:30 then 13:00 to 16:00 then 20:30 to 00:30 approximately)
Currently 22/16 p/ kWh with 25p/ day standing charge.
Mostly charging is done free at Tesco, Linlithgow sports club or the good old Castleview hub at Stirling if we’re lucky enough to find a machine which is available and operational at the same time as we happen to drive by.
Roughly half of the last year was with the ZS and a range of around 120 to 150 miles / fill. Since September the longrange 5 has returned about 220 to 240 miles per topup which has all but completely cured any vestiges of range anguish that, to be honest, we’ve never really had since graduating from our years of diesel motoring. Admittedly we were covering a lot more distance then but “ motoring expenses” were logged around £3500 each year then 😱😱😱😱😱😱 Now there’s anguish for the poor old Scot’s brain to conjour with looking back.

Good to know. I got mine on affinity from them and at the time the price was as good as it got.

Had a dreadful experience getting my car "serviced" today at Fraser's of Falkirk. Pollen filter not changed, brake fluid not changed, don't know what was actually done. Technician flat out lied saying that all the work had been done. Not impressed. They are very apologetic and I am getting a free service as compensation.
