MG 5 - Car "dies" in traffic queue with manual parking brake applied

I don't like the way the parking brake disengages when it has been applied by autohold. The disengagement after it has been manually applied is smoother. On my pre FL I use the manual parking brake at most stops of more than say, 5-10 seconds. Never had any problem with it disengaging...

    Ventilation / Condensation

Rain-x anti fog on the inside of the windscreen makes a huge difference. It can last several months before it needs reapplying.

Impending 12V death or glitch/sensor malfunction?

The damage to the 12V battery probably occurred during the year the car was sitting around.

    Heating uses loads of power

There are over 1000 electric buses in London. The entire fleet of 9000+ will be emission free by 2030.

    Brake fluid usage

One reason for replacing fluid in a modern car would be to prolong the life of the ABS pump. My last car ABS pump siezed due to corrosion after nearly 15 years. Maybe if I'd changed the brake fluid it would not have done so. Maybe not. Only one of the reasons it was scrapped.

MG5 original 2021 spec and PodPoint Solo Charger - overnight timed charging

Same here. PodPoint Solo works fine in timed mode with MG5 Exclusive (Pre FL). PodPoint app has been updated recently to allow you to start an adhoc charge manually in the app without having to remove the schedule. You need to PodPoint app to use public PodPoint chargers as well.

Regen Braking, Electric Braking and Physical Brakes

I'm pretty sure the regen is dependent on what the charging equipment can handle. So about 75 kW for the MG. My Leaf can handle 50kW DC charging and that's where its regen tops out.

Regen Braking, Electric Braking and Physical Brakes

When you step on the brake pedal, the car starts regeneratively braking. If you demand more braking effort beyond what can be done with regen, the physical brakes are used to supply the extra effort. As you slow down, the regen is less effective (the electric motor is turning more slowly so the...

    Gridserve Rapid Charging Issue

I tried to charge at the Gridserve dual CCS charger at M6 Stafford South services yesterday. Error message on the charger was "the car did something unexpected". To me that implies a CCS protocol error of some type. Luckily the single CCS plus single Chademo charger next to it became available...

Multiple Instances Of Charging Issues At Instavolt

LR here. Tried two out of four brand new Instavolt chargers at Athlone (ROI), three attempts each. No luck. Comms failure between chargers and the car. ESB ecar chargers have been the most reliable so far on this trip.

Tyre Inflator (stopped working) - warranty

I don't think that's fair. I've used the glue and inflator successfully to get me to a tyre place. What they don't mention is that the tyre is considered a write-off by tyre places as they don't want to deal with the mess inside so even if the tyre was repairable with a patch/plug it will likely...

    5 Long Range charging speed

In your screenshot I see there is some warning (red triangle) on the other channel of the charger, so it may have had a fault that affected both channels limiting charging to a low rate.

    What Colour

I think it's the conditional speed limit warning. It appears when the system (thinks it) has seen something under the last speed limit sign that might modify the limit it has detected, so the limit displayed on the dashboard should be regarded with caution.
