I hope they do too. The IMs are playing in a different league to the likes of the 4. Not as easy to forgive these things.
I mean even my Dacia Spring gets OTA. It's had two this year!

My order for an IM6 LR is in with Octopus EV. Until they give me a delivery date, I'm free to change.

It's this that makes me worry that ordering another MG might be a mistake. The aftersales on my MG4 has been woeful and the above suggests an IM experience may be the same.
I ordered mine via Octopus EV (sal sac too) and was advised to get my order in ASAP for a switch date in June next year.
I know from my MG4 order 3 years ago that MG aren't the quickest with their new cars. So we'll see.
That's my hope! My lease is up in June next year. Would make the IM5 Performance exempt. Hopefully the monthly costs reflect that. Pays for the 3p per mile!
This doesn't bother me personally. As a predominantly home charger on a 6p tariff, the mileage cost still makes EV motoring far cheaper than an ICE car.
However, the perception of EVs as a rule (only 25% of new cars this year were EVs), will be hampered by this announcement.
