I wish that MG would offer concrete confirmation that process exists & exactly how it operates. I've got a plan to solve the problem of a flat 12v battery after an extended period of inactivity. But it wouldn't work so well on a day to day basis.

Maybe "problematic" is the wrong word? I just see it as a potential failure point when there's all that electrical power on-tap from the HV battery. I'd have thought there'd be some kind of voltage inverter to step down some of the HV to 12v.

I can't get my head around why a low/flat 12V battery would stop the car from running? Surely if there's charge in the high voltage battery.the car runs on that & charges the 12V whilst doing so. Obviously getting into the car would be an issue if the 12V powers the central locking?

In 2012 I had a Ford Kuga. Which I PX'd in 2020 for a much larger Ford Edge. I'd say the HS sits somewhere between those two in terms of size? No idea how that compares to the MGS6 mate?

Cheers Salty, I had a very well paid PAYE job & a far more lucrative & totally legal sideline. I quit & did voluntary work with a charity that helped the homeless for nearly 10yrs. Zero pay, but extremely rewarding 🙂 Then I quit totally.
