We changed from a gas cooker to electric when we had the kitchen done, this then required a new CU as well. Whilst I was researching the changes I realised that I only had a 60A house fuse & might be pushing my luck with the extra load. As it was a free upgrade, I thought I might as well future...
Before we had the fuse / cutout upgraded (the 60A holder is too small to take a 100A fuse) I used to regularly run 7KW charger + Washing machine + dishwasher + immersion heater in the 4hr Octopus Go window. It never blew the fuse, so you will probably be OK without the upgrade. However the rules...
I phoned the local MG dealer to ask if there was a solution to bluethooth issues yesterday. He said bring it in now and I'll do it while you wait. Sure enough, after 20 mins of drooing over the showroom Xpower I now have R46 on my Trophy and so far the connectivity is much improved (though not...
Mine does the same sometimes. It seems to be related to heavy rain, I think even slight moisture can cause the car to assume an earth fault and stop charging. I also try to keep the cable off the drive ( loop over the door mirror). It's normally OK the next night.
After some months of erratic charging I think I have now fixed the problem. My Podpoint is 6+ yrs old and when installed it just used the earth connection to the main fuse board. Although a recent upgrade to the main fuse showed the house has a good earth loop impedence (0.17 ohms), I know that...
I also visited Hamilton this week whilst driving from Reading to Fort William and back. These chargers were a highlight, charging my Trophy at almost 140KW!
I thought I would share my recent experiences with getting a house supply fuse upgrade, as it might help others faced with the same problem.
Although I already have a 7 KW car charger installed, it was put in some years ago when EVs and chargers were still very new. Nowadays however, the...
In another thread some sparky managed to wire his whole house up and draw 7Kw! Not for the amateur though. I just had a long extension lead, haven't tried more than about 2.5Kw which is plenty for most uses.
I also get random charging schedule errors: Charges to 100%, not 80%; starts at the wrong time (outside my cheap hours!); or simpy decides not to charge at all - like last night. I assume it's just buggy software!
