Wishlist/'must haves' for next version of the ZS EV?

If you are on home screen just press the temp and it goes straight to screen with heated seats icon on. I agree dedicated buttons would be better but it is a budget EV so money had to be saved in lots of places. If they where dedicated buttons you would need more wiring loom and physical...

    A couple of things …

If you unlock the car and don't open a door within 30 sec it locks it's self. If you stop, switch off and leave the vehicle it won't lock it's self.

    Radio/music input default

I have found if you press the mute button on steering wheel it stops playing the radio, then switch off car. Then when you get back in the car and it's 'ready' press the mute button again to listen to the radio.

Common problems with the new ZS EV

I believe that some have a 'tick' noise when driving as the plastic panel at the bottom of the windscreen rubs the windscreen making a clicking noise. I have read a few people have removed the panel and fitted some sort of comfort tape so the plastic doesn't touch the windscreen. Might be worth...

    Which at home charger?

I wasn't sure they are still available. Thanks for the info. I think it's called Octopus Go and the off peak is 9p/kWh. I believe the way Octopus intelligent go works is that either the charger or the car needs to be compatible with their telling it when to charge. I believe that the ID3 is a...

    Which at home charger?

I believe Octopus Intelligent Go is the cheapest EV charging tariff on Octopus. AS you have an MG you need a charger that is compatible with Octopus Intelligent Go. I believe this lists the currently compatible chargers: Select your EV charger

    Charging EV by Solar Panels

Henley blocks are for qualified electricians only! The 4kW export margin is set on the zappi menu from the front panel. Sorry can't remember the menu options to get to export margin but I'm sure you will be able to find it.

    Charging EV by Solar Panels

From my experience the zappi sees export as power it should use to charge the car but when the solar drops the inverter is actively sort of pushing against the grid so your house uses solar generation and battery but when solar drops quickly the inverter 'pushes' with battery power, the zappi...

    ZS EV 2024 facelift?

I have recently seen MG ZS EV adverts on tv and they clearly show the sunroof. I can't imagine that they are advertising something that is not going to be available again but you never know.

    Which at home charger?

It's not applicable but might give an idea how long things should last, the UK's Right to Repair law came in in 2021 but doesn't cover car chargers however if it where a dishwashers, washing machines, washer-dryers, refrigeration appliances as well as televisions and electronic display, then the...

    Which at home charger?

Speak to trading standards as I would say most people would expect a charger to still be operational after 4 years - it's a big outlay for what it is and as such you might find you have a case against EDF for fitting an obsolete charger.

    Which at home charger?

The problem with them being outdoors is the winter temps. When batteries get too cold they won't accept a charge at the same rate as when warm, same for discharge. Same as our vehicle batteries. Mine are in the loft (easy access) but even there they need a polystyrene box to keep them warm in...

    Which at home charger?

You would need a 3 phase supply to your house. At minimum that would be 3 x the standing charge plus a few £K for installation. Then I believe the UK ZS even the LR can only charge at 11kW on 3 phase so not much faster than standard 7kW. I believe that Octopus Intelligent Go has the cheapest...

    Which at home charger?

I believe Octopus Intelligent Go is only compatible with 3 chargers Ohme Home Pro, Ohme ePod and a MyEnergy Zappi. If you have solar and batteries then get an electrician who can fit a henley block before your 'fuseboard' and then a second 'fuseboard' to feed the charger. That way the current...

Common problems with the new ZS EV

Technically dead reconning is calculating the current position based on the last known position and taking into consideration vehicle speed and direction. In the context of gps and sat nav I believe that when switched off it only uses gps to determine your position. If on then it also adds...
