I have PV and batteries , and charge my ZS long range through a Zappi 2. Simple, flexible, reliable. Would recommend the same charger to anyone who asked.

It wasn't from Bolton by any chance? They had an unregistered trophy connect (pano roof etc.). That was manufactured 21/22 ish, but had not yet been registered when mine was in for its first service a couple of weeks ago.

If you set a charging schedule to allow charging, then charging will restart as soon as the power becomes available again. I get the same effect when charging from solar. If you just 'start charge', then as soon as the power stops being provided the car thinks that charge session is over, so...

My Zappi requires either the start charging button on the car to be pressed or the scheduled charging period to cover the current time or charging will not start. I normally charge overnight, but if I charge during the day I just shift the scheduled charging window to start before the current time.

I have a Zappi (tethered) and find it very easy to use. You can use it with or without the app and it's a good choice to integrate with solar.

Just coming back to the original question... There are several rapid charges that will fail just as described if you plug the car in before you do anything else. On these chargers you need to set up the charge either on the charger or it's app, the charger will then say "Connect your car"...

Rapid chargers maybe not so common, but every public car park I went to in August had 4 fast charger bays (including Broad Haven, Nolton Haven, Newgale) I was actually quite impressed at how common they were.
