You have hit the nail on the head! I checked the filters that had been set in the app and discovered that the payment option had been set to contactless, although I have no memory of doing this. I deselected this and bingo (!) the location appeared.

I went on a trip last weekend and while on the mainland thought I would try LKA again - it is hopeless on the Isle of Wight - and it was OK except that at many exit slip-roads on the major roads and motorways, there are painted white forked arrows on the carriageway. LKA didn't like these at all...
