Depending on what country you are in it is not as simple as connecting to the trailer hitch. Some models do not run a 12V positive and negative for the tail light to the trailer hitch. Instead they run a general 12V power (which is always on) to the trailer and use low voltage signal wired from...
Hi All,
I've decided to put together a bit of a formal guide to help others to perform this upgrade. Please note you do this at your own risk and I don't accept any responsibility for carrying out this procedure. This is simply a record of the steps I took to get full functionality to the light...
I used these and found they fit. It will depend on the speakers you buy, specifically the depth. Mine just clear the window as it winds down. https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Shop-our-Full-Range-by-Brand-at-Autobarn/Aerpro/Aerpro-Speaker-Spacer-To-Suit-Toyota---APS334-/p/ME23041
Hi all. Just upgraded the doors and tweeters in my excite/sr model to the
Pioneer 6.5" A-Series 2-Way Coaxial Speakers - TS-A653FH
As these were less than 1/2 price and get a decent write up. Not sure if anyone else is planning the same however what I've noticed is the speakers have a rapid fall...
Glad the instructions were of help. I'm going to be making both these instructions and the instructions to upgrade the through tail light into a little booklet for distribution.
Managed to find the time to complete the install. Feeding the cable through the boot lid was easier than expected using a stiff PVC cable pull/pusher rather than a cable puller. Replaced the unique connector on the tail light assembly with a typical connector. Lights work perfectly. A tip when...
Also worth noting I've done temporary testing of the light prior to install and all appears to be working as intended with the through tail light illuminating correctly whenever the tail light comes on, unlike the license plate lights.
Ok, I've received my through tail light and have been doing some investigation on the connection. My car also has the new harness connector. I intend to return to my original post idea of tapping into the LHS tail light wiring. If you find the black and white ( no other colour stripe) wires...
Ok great. I'm not sure about local specifics or the trailer hitch conversation but looks like the jumper cable on the dummy connector is still there and is just in white. This is the cable which would complete the circuit between the BCM and the rear left tail light? you could probably test this...
I've just tried this with no luck. OP Any chance you could take a picture of the fuse tap insitu? Need to know if I've plugged this into the fuse box right.
this is very confusing... So there is no dummy connector that is closing the circuit from the BCM to the rear left tail light (see grey wire on the snip of the wiring diagram)? Mine is also a 2023 model and has the same connector as seen in Joehn's post. You are sure this is the connector...
Any pictures of the hitch connector? Particularly any sowing the colours if the wires going in from the harness and the dummy plug connector? Having a look at the wiring manual the hitch connector is definitely the easiest way. The next would be splicing the wiring to the left or right...
