Just looking for a bit of help ZS Trophy Connect

I bought my ZS EV new a year ago. I have the long range Trophy Connect. It's been fantastic over this first year & my wife & I love it. No problems except a slight paint issue on a couple of panels which was fixed under warranty very quickly. Range per charge is very good. In summer I've seen...

John, if you press the activation button, what happens. I found my car just automatically activated itself!

How long do EV batteries last?

I would imagine someone has made a typo on that second year figure. It would be more like 98% in reality Rolfe. You wouldn't lose so much in a further year of use no matter how far you drove.

    Mode button

As above, Welcome. This does sound very much like a fault. It might be software related or it might be the actual switch. After switching the car off you might try removing the 12v battery negative lead for a few minutes. This resets the cars infotainment system & can sometimes clear a...

First MOT, major fail, both front suspension bushes

Hello Tom, yes my post was more aimed at addressing some earlier posts relating to other vehicles. Not yours. My bad, I hadn't watched your video at the point of posting. Totally agree that in your case it's pretty urgent to get you car back on the road. And I'm not understanding your dealers...

First MOT, major fail, both front suspension bushes

This sort of suspension bush problem isn't to uncommon. It happens to all makes of car. My new Citroen had it. Its not usually a design fault. The most common reason for this issue is the bush manufacturer alters the compounds used to make the bushes & they are not up to the job. Or...the...

    Range anxiety

I've heard of some folks running to zero miles on the guessometer but still driving for another 12+ miles. This is really bad to do that. The battery suffers in that situation. Don't do it. In reality you won't or shouldn't experience any range anxiety wherever you go. There are chargers all...

Octupus Intelligent Go and manual charging

Yes, that's good. Forgot about that. My Zappi charger does the same. Usually, before I plug in my Zappi to the car, I switch my charger to 'Stop' using the Zappi app. That prevents if from immediately charging. At about 11 at night I switch it on & press charge now in my Zappi app on my phone...

Octupus Intelligent Go and manual charging

Hello Pete. Ok you've turned off smart charging & that is correct if the charger is listed as the first device. Mine is the same. You can now equalise in the correct way to 100% without Octopus switching off the charge as soon as the battery hits100%. As smart charging is now switched off...

    Long-term ZS owners

The main thing that's changed Tim is the dreadful state of our roads. They haven't been this bad for decades in most parts of the UK. That's what the AA/RAC say. Wheel, tyre & spring damage is at an all time high. That's all makes of car. None of them are immune! Have you not seen the news...
  12. D

    Long-term ZS owners

So we're yours breaking at or near the very ends Tim? That IS where nearly all springs usually break. No matter what cars they are on. It's not because they are formed "more cheaply". Look at the springs on Mercs, BMW, Lexus & they are formed the same. Or mostly. If you flatten them, something...
  13. D

    Long-term ZS owners

That's a very good point Tim. It isn't just MG, It's all makes of car. The number of springs breaking is at an all time high. It isn't because manufacturers are cheaping out on quality of their springs. That would be not just dangerous but stupid to the highest degree. It could lead to massive...

    Long-term ZS owners

Most cars in general lose around 50 to 55% of their value in 3yrs. So 66% isn't too bad at the 4th yr. Ask for a discount off the final balloon payment if that is a lot more than the cars actual value. Some on here have managed to get one.

Vehicle fires getting out of control

Quite a few are caused by diesel vehicle regen cycles. Some are caused by active petrol particulate filter cycles. Often not fuel leaks but those do account for some. Electrical fires are big on the list. So varied causes.

    Advice Needed Please

Tom, that might be too many 'well well well's'! :ROFLMAO:
  17. D

Vehicle fires getting out of control

Yes indeed, notice I did say it might increase the risk of a fire, which of course might lead to one. But rarely will a petrol spill directly onto a hot engine cause a fire. Granted a spill onto a fully hot manifold might, but even that's not a given. And it's rare.
  18. D

    Advice Needed Please

I think that was a sensible move.
  19. D

Vehicle fires getting out of control

Yes it might seem strange but petrol on a hot engine won't result in a fire. It might increase the risk of a fire but only if there are exposed high voltage electrics or a naked flame very nearby to hit the vapour. But you really need a spark to be sure it'll ignite. It's the flashpoint that's...

    Advice Needed Please

Be thorough when you look at the Stellantis cars. The Vauxhalls are troublesome as are the Citroen EVs. Neighbour had a Moka EV which spent weeks & weeks at the dealers being fixed but it never was. He got rid & bought a Ford Explorer EV. The Citroens seem to get 'teething' troubles over & over...

Looking for ZS EV (2023 Facelift) Infotainment Firmware - Stuck on R04 in Turkey

Why do you want to get your maps elsewhere? The procedure for updating is very straightforward & is listed in the owners manual for the car. The car has its own software program that takes care of this function. It doesn't take long to do. MG like mostly all manufacturers uses it's own bespoke...

    MG runs out of cars

It might have some truth to it. MG is one of the fastest growing UK & European car brands. Sometimes that can work against you. As tsedge says, it's probably just that some dealers or even UK MG didn't order enough cars.

    R27 VS R25

Neither did mine, but after R27 it was smoother & Lane Keep Assist was considerably better. There are other advantages to. But if you are happy leave it as it is.
  24. D

    R27 VS R25

R27 makes your cars system far more robust fixing several minor issues into the bargain like the ACC issue. That's what I was told. But of course it's up to you. If you are happy as it is, then it's all good!
  25. D

    R27 VS R25

Your car is the same as mine except I'm in the UK. Here we are on R27 plus all the extra updates for every other computer module that R27 allows your car to see. On R25 your car cannot see any other updates, of which there are many. I cannot imagine it would be different in Germany. Might be...

    R27 VS R25

Forgive me for jumping in. I'm not absolutely sure Susanna, but I think your car can go to R27. I base that on a chat with an MG tech who suggested R27 covers all ZS MK2 cars. I guess you will need to speak with your dealer just to be sure. Of course it may be your dealer didn't want to spend...

Vibration, it's worth checking this on your car!

An interesting one this & a heads up. Last week I was returning home on a busy main road in torrential rain. That same road earlier was coping well with the rain, no flooding. However, after several hours of rain there were several areas along the way where there was some minor flooding. Not...

1 Year with the new ZS EV!

Yes, I think the ZS EV size is pretty good. Not too big but not a small car. It's a bit too tall for my garage so mine stands at the rear of my house behind locked gates on my driveway. I love the charge point being at the front. It's great if I need to charge at a Tesla charger as I can park in...

Vehicle fires getting out of control

It's interesting to note that the BMW story above isn't really making really big headlines (not that I've seen), yet even a single EV fire or even a hint of one creates panic & mayhem with petrol heads saying things like "I told you so, they're dangerous". Those folks also deliberately try to...

    Covered by warranty?

Not had this problem. Generally yes I would expect the warranty to cover this depending on age of the car. However, the 7yr warranty like many warranties is a depreciating one, meaning it covers less & less components as the car ages. So you need to check the cars manual to confirm if this is...

Vehicle fires getting out of control

Everyday here in the UK an average of 305 to 310 petrol & diesel vehicles burst into flames either at home or on the roads. EVs are 80 times LESS likely to catch fire (source: The AA & RAC joint 2yr study).

1 Year with the new ZS EV!

Well, as the title suggests, this is about my experience with my new ZS EV bought January 2025. Not sure where the last year has gone, it's been a busy time. So, am I pleased with the ZS? Absolutely, yes I am. The car has been faultless except for a minor paint problem on the roof & bonnet...

ZS EV First Service Battery State of Health?

Hi Everest, I use two methods. 1. I use the obd to interrogate the BMS. This gives a variety of info, as you will know. It will check battery current state of charge, amount of current that can flow, actual battery capacity, total cell voltage, individual cell voltage, equalisation of each cell...

    ADAS Calibration Codes

You do need an MG/professional diagnostics tool to access the cars radar learning modules. Aside from that I'm not sure any codes are needed. I've done this on several cars over the years without needing codes but of course it's perfectly possible MG need them. Never done this on an MG. It is a...

ZS EV First Service Battery State of Health?

The later ones are fine even at high mileage. They have better BMS. Just as an addon Paulie, we have 5 EV's in the family including my ZS & the Leaf. We have an E-Niro with 103,000 on the clock & 94% SOH. An ID3 with 88,000 & 97% SOH, an id4 with 60,000 & 98% SOH. All NMC batteries. Two friends...

ZS EV First Service Battery State of Health?

Just to reassure you Paulie, there are quite a few MK1 & 2 Leafs with much more than a 100k on the clock with their original batteries. Several owners on YT too with those cars. I am auto EE & mechanicals. You are right, most folks don't understand their batteries but frankly, they don't need...

ZS EV First Service Battery State of Health?

Paulie, all lithium batteries use an upper & lower buffer. The figure the garage gives you is as good as you'll get & all you need. These buffers are accessible by the cars BMS but only when carrying out a full & proper equalisation charge to 100%. Throughout the life of the battery a small...

ZS EV First Service Battery State of Health?

It does depend on charging & equalisation habits too. You get a slightly lower figure but then after a couple of equalisation charges it can be better. That's why equalisation charging is so important. Also battery temperature is important when checking soh. It can also improves with a slightly...

Just 6,000. No miles at all. Likely to be much more this year.
  45. D

ZS EV First Service Battery State of Health?

Why lazy or incompetent Paulie? Yes, all batteries deteriorated from new. But it's the buffer area that is doing that first & that won't if I'm lucky show up for quite some time. To assist this I do a full & proper equalisation at regular intervals which definitely slows degradation.

    I Smart on two devices?

The crucial step before doing anything else is to load the MG iSmart app onto the phone of the person who wants the secondary account. Next create a new account for them using their phone with their email address included. This can just be their name & email. Click register & the account will be...

I have an MG ZS EV registered Dec 2019. It's battery has now failed at under 22,000 miles . It had no service in 2021.

The new cell pack will be calibrated to match the rest of the battery pack before rebuilding. Otherwise the battery long term integrity & range will be affected.

Front Collision Detection and ACC disabled

You might try disconnecting the 12v battery for a few minutes. That might clear the issue. Make sure you remove the negative lead not the red positive lead. If that doesn't do it a visit to your dealer is probably needed. Of course, I'm assuming the front bumper camera is clean & working too!

ZS EV First Service Battery State of Health?

Just had my first service carried out on the ZS & everything is fine. My battery SOH is showing as 100% which of course is very pleasing & tbh I was expecting. My dongle showed this prior to the service. Out of interest I'm wondering the following; Firstly, just how many of us get a 100% SOH...
