You always have the fall back position which I've used more than once. With your trusted 10mm spanner removed the 12v battery -ive terminal and wait 10 minutes before reconnecting. It's a bit like CTL-ALT-DEL on Windows!

Nope, too much hassle involved in opening the bonnet. Faster accessing the boot... Once you have a tethered home charger you rarely use the cable anyway!
