You could be right, but they are also the oldest. The phase 1 SE and Trophy had the same 17" wheels, they were changed on the later phase 2 Trophy when they were fitted with 18" rims and different aero wheel trims.

I'm reviving this thread. Anyone else had this problem happening to their wheel covers? I've noticed that both my front wheels are suffering from this now. The offside is worse with the lacquer peeling off at several points. On the nearside the lacquer is just bubbling.

The socket is one thing to have checked. The plug is something you can check yourself if you are confident. Many of the failures of Granny chargers are their plugs, and in particular the fuse contacts. Unless it's a wired 13A plug the fuse is between the pins under a cover or in a fuse carrier...

Its a small world, there are two people I know who also have or had MG4'S. A colleague at work who had a 72 plate Trophy (Tango), now returned as his 3 year PCP had finished, he's looking to get a van Kia PV 5 or similar. The second person is local....just up the road who now has a 72 plate...

MG seems to be building a brand around the MG4, like Fiat have done with the Fiat 500 and BMW with the Mini. I hope MG see sense and bring it into the UK in a similar spec to the Chinese version.

Had a car to trade in, so used as part payment, the rest was bank transfer (cash) against the new MG4.

Yes subtle, it is also the same in the 2026 MG4. There was some discussion about it when people noticed its use there too.

As @Coulomb says the loss will be almost constant whether it's 2kW or 7kW input power. These are the losses in the CCU within the car, so as a percentage of the input power the 200W to 300W lost seems greater than at higher power where the loss is masked by the much larger charge rate.

I've just worked out from the raw figures the efficency for April compared to the car only in post #215 Car accumulated total, 527.6 mls @ 4.3 mls/kWh. Overall from home/public charging data, 3.7 mls/kWh, cost 7.9p/mile.
