New video on the morality of Net Zero

Perhaps rather than a person from the future posing the question, what have you done? you should interview one of the victims of the Wennington wild fire of 19th July 2022 when 16 homes were burnt down, almost certainly caused by global warming. You would have more impact as the viewer could...

    The great rear brakes con....

@Bradmore, some manufactures certainly of ICE vehicles try to combat the relative lack of use of the rear brakes by fitting drum brakes. I always thought they just hadn't caught up with the times, but in reality they've researched the subject well and come up with a good solution. I think the...

    The great rear brakes con....

There was a general change of brake pad material some years ago, this was done to remove the harmful substances used in the composition of the pads. As a consequence the pad became harder, and to compensate the discs became softer and used more steel content. In general in an ICE powered car...

Keeping track of my MG4 (efficiency)

Yesterday I remembered, like the thread on the MG S5 forum as it was the beginning of the month, to record and then reset the data in the accumulated journey trip display. As I haven't done this for some time the accumulated time was 84 hrs, but it does show a good average of 4.2m/kWh. The MG S5...

    Porsche mobile charger with MG4

Yes it will charge at 10A, (UK plug adaptor) or 32A (CEE adaptor), but is otherwise very basic without delay Timer or display, but as @Tig170 points out it will be difficult to access cheap overnight rates to really make a difference to your motoring costs

    Porsche mobile charger with MG4

The CEE adaptors are available in either 16 or 32A, single or 3 phase. @redwood98, I guess the one you are interested in would be the 32A single phase. But it seems the one supplied is a 3 phase, so you'd need a 13A UK lead and the 32A single phase both at £136 each....wow. Also from Porsche is...

MG4s used for Commercial reasons. 🙂👍

Saw this on my travels this morning in London, its a repeat of the one posted by @MG Clive on post #32 of this thread. Presumably not the same one, this was on a 75 plate.

Has anyone used a Tesla Mobile Charger for their MG4?

Looking through the manual it is very basic, relying on the word TESLA lighting up in green or red and a series of up to 7 flashes, or pulsing of the light to indicate status, so unless its printed on the back of the unit you'll need to keep the manual handy to work out any errors. It has the...

MG4 charging leads provided with new car

@redwood98, the portable 13A granny charger looks to have all the protection for something that plugs into a UK 13A socket. Third Rock have all the usual safety information about the type of socket to be used, and not using an extension lead. If you are talking about the 32A CEE bundle with PME...

MG4 charging leads provided with new car

Rather than buying an MG type 2 charger which is a very basic unit with just status lights, why not go for one which has a display so you can keep a record of how much energy you are putting in. The Third Rock type 2 charger's display when I checked with them, keeps the total of kWh used in its...

Charging Extension Cable not working with HS PHEV

I hope I'm not sating the obvious, but have you looked into getting the tethered cable of your Wallbox charger replaced for a longer one. If you're still within the return date of your type 2 extension cable then this could be returned as not compatible.

    Most useful MG4 accessory?

@Wizard of Oz, It's just a whole lot easier to find anything in the back, or use the space without fumbling in complete darkness. If you're only 2 up in the car then I tend to store coats for the journey, or shopping. I also used to use a small electric cool box behind the drivers seat and...

    Most useful MG4 accessory?

A light in the rear passenger area.....as there isn't one. Some have fixed lights to the headlining either by the rear doors, or on the trim panel on the C pillar. My preferred method is to use a switchable USB light in the socket on the back of the centre console.

MG4 Spotted! : Was it you?

@Muffler, you're right there are quite a few in our area. I often see 3 or 4 on a Saturday morning when I drive into High Wycombe, a mixture of SE's and Trophy's. I must say I haven't noticed any XPower's , but I will keep a lookout for either a red or green XPower and give you a wave.

    Granny/3 pin charger from Amazon

@Gadget Geek, I think that's the theory, and certainly mine came with an included portable EVSE when new, but from what I've seen across the forums here @MG EV's some cars are not delivered with either, it seems to be down to the deal struck.
