Charged mine almost exclusively through 3 pin plug for last 13,500 miles (do about 250 miles a week). Never once needed or wished I had a 7.5kw home charger. As others have said each to their own but I find that if I drive 100 miles a day (or less) the granny charger works perfect for me.
Be prepared for a long wait is my experience. Taken the car in twice, both times the car wasn’t ready when they said it would be and both times they failed to call me to warn me. Most recent was a simple first service. They knew I was waiting in the showroom for it to be completed and they took...
I charge mine purely by the granny cable. 13000 miles later it has worked perfectly and no need to spend loads on a charger.
Enjoy the car and just get your head around the fact that the fuel economy is shite on the motorway and brilliant in stop start traffic (probably opposite of your old...
I wouldn’t currently own an EV if I couldn’t charge at home but I do 200 miles per week. If I only did 40 miles in my current extended range MG4 I would probably only charge it once every 5 weeks if I had no home charging so maybe that would be ok. However I would only use a rapid charger if I...
I use Octopus Go and a granny charger. Get all my 200 miles a week by doing that. They have just told me my rate is going down to 8.5p and they are adding an additional hour each night so will now get 5 hours at the lower rate.
My E Class was 100% cheaper to fuel than my MG4 if all I did was fill up at a garage/public charger. The only way my MG makes sense on fuel is because I can charge at home 90% of the time for around £2.70 per 100 miles. At the public chargers I use on the motorways it is more like £28 per 100...
I have an extended range.
I get 210 doing 70 on the motorway
I get 320 around town
I get 280 in my normal drive which is a mix of everything.
I live somewhere hilly, I drive fairly fast and in sport mode and always leave about 10% of battery so my ranges are based on 90% of battery use.
Spoke to the dealer and they are preparing an estimate for fixing the crack. Although they have seen the photos they said that MG are so tight at agreeing warranty claims that they are likely to refuse to cover the cost! The car is less than 2 months old, has had no impact damage at all and the...
My DAB sometimes comes on when I start the car and sometimes doesn't. When it doesn't I have to press the radio section on the home screen and then choose one of the saved stations and then it comes to life.
It has become part of my 6 minute ritual every time I get in the car.
Unplug my...
