    towbar on MG4?

Hi, I'm wondering if there are any catches to avoid re fitting a towbar onto an MG4 (2023)? I'd like to use a rear bike rack & fitting it to a towbar seems to be a good option since the cradle-type ones don't seem to fit v well over the Trophy's spoilers. I've noted a post by NickT regarding a...

total loss of power on a busy dual carriage way - I'm really scared it will happen again

Thanks for your interest. It seems to me that every stage of diagnostics had to be referred to "MG" (be that SAIC or MG UK, I'm not sure). Despite sketchy updates I believe the garage have been waiting on feedback/instruction on at least 3 occasions before actually getting to the point of...

total loss of power on a busy dual carriage way - I'm really scared it will happen again

No, the garage is now waiting for approval from MG to carry out the fix under warranty. I can't see how it wouldn't be under warranty though 🤔

total loss of power on a busy dual carriage way - I'm really scared it will happen again

So after 3 weeks of diagnostics MG have determined that the drive motor needs replacing. I very much hope this is a reliable fix 🤞

total loss of power on a busy dual carriage way - I'm really scared it will happen again

Oh goodness. I was kind of of expecting to be back on a set of wheels this week, even be it a hire car. Following your post (and unsatisfactory engagement with the customer service team at the dealership - to quote them "it doesn't take seconds") it looks like I need to be prepared for a long &...

total loss of power on a busy dual carriage way - I'm really scared it will happen again

Don't blame you. I don't really want to drive mine again either. Strangely, when I started explaining to aftersales what had happened & the error messages that flashed up, they interrupted me saying "limited power?". It seems to me that these incidents are not rare :-(

Oh gosh - I suppose my question is "did it happen again" or has she got 50k miles out of it since without a repeat 🤔

total loss of power on a busy dual carriage way - I'm really scared it will happen again

Thanks for your helpful response. TBH I don't trust the garage (since they didn't upload my service data) & having some knowledge helps me try to make sure they do their job properly Dealership have undertaken some initial diagnostics and the only feedback is "need to carry out extensive...

total loss of power on a busy dual carriage way - I'm really scared it will happen again

The vehicle recovery guy (arranged by the police) didn't do any diagnostics - everyone just wanted to get the car off the road (including all the drivers in the 4 mile tailback). I did get a call through to MG Assist but the police arranged recovery vehicle got out to me first. I hope so 😏

    Total Loss of Power

Did you return the car? If you have (& if you've seen my post in which I detail the total loss of power I had on a dual carriage way last week) you'll be glad that you have!

total loss of power on a busy dual carriage way - I'm really scared it will happen again

My MG4 Trophy lost all power whilst I was accelerating to get on to a busy dual carriage way on Thursday. It was a hugely scary experience for me & my child as we tried our best to carry out all the correct actions & report the obstruction to emergency services whilst barely being able to hear...

ACC unavailable, then loss of power.

Hi, I've had something like this. No ACC message and then total loss of power (whilst driving on a dual carriageway - scary!) Had to get car removed by recovery lorry.
