Not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but after 2 painful days at MG Newbury the software was updated on my car and the issue seems to be fixed... I have also spoken to ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) people and they managed to get the claim with Octopus to re-opened...

So I just did another test - this time just opening the passenger door and closing it, no key involved. The car auto locked itself. Is this an expected behavior?

No recalls there. I'm booked with the garage for the 30th of July.. apparently the first available date. See what they say but they were not overally helpful over the phone.

I have just done it, the key makes no difference. The car locks itself after shutting the boot. Will try again later with a different door. The car was serviced about 7-8 weeks ago. I know that a software update was done as the lane assist doesn't try to kill me anymore, but not sure about...

Not sure where to find infotainment version - is this the Entertainment system version? if yes, it is: SWI68-29958-1300R30 and the Telecommunication version is SNAKP18E32.

I have just made a little video of what happens. Starting from position where car was left unlocked after a ride, lights off and mirrors unfolded.

So...the exact scenario is as follows and I have just managed to replicate it (MG 4 Trophy long range, 23 REG) 1) Unlock the car and start it up (press the pedal or something, pretend you are taking it for a drive) 2) put it in parked position as you would at the end of the drive 3) get out of...

To everyone saying this hasn't happen. It unfortunately did. And I came here to see if anyone else has had this happening to them before I talk to MG dealership.

Thank you. I thought the same and logged a complaint with RAC... still waiting to hear back.

Spare key was in a house... house key was in a locked car... either way had to get locksmiths involved.

The car is through Octopus scheme and they are with RAC... the situation was deemed a human error by RAC and therefore not covered...
