    I have a vibration / rattle - any inspiration?

Does this only happen when you do not have a passenger in the car? If so, check the passenger side seat belt. It has a habit of turning the metal lock piece to face the pillar and rattles when driving. If a passenger is with you then obviously they wear the seat belt, so no rattle.

A cautionary tale for MG 4 EV owners

Thanks for this, that certainly would have helped me out had I known about it (assuming of course the ismart app did work for me in bluetooth mode). Knowing my luck that day though I guess the phone would have run out of charge!! I will try it out when I can and thanks again, Fnegroni Thanks...

Because the system went off (for me anyway) for a number of days. I did report it to Ismart and funnily enough it came back on about 3 days after this incident. If you read my first post again you will see that I made mention of it there.

Maybe, but all I can say is that I saw the AA guy test the battery from the key fob and it did read 2.99. So not sure what else to say as I don't understand why this happened at all. But I do hope others take precautions just in case they find themselves in a similar predicament!

A cautionary tale for MG 4 EV owners

Well at first I was able to lock and unlock the car until it eventually wouldn't even do that and reported that I should try again later (which I did for a number of days). Strangely it also defaulted to metric rather than imperial measurement without any input from me. I have to admit I was...

A cautionary tale for MG 4 EV owners

Sorry everyone and, for the eagle eyed members around, the key fob battery is in fact the CR2032, I missed the first 2 from my post so please don't go looking for the incorrect battery number I quoted, It is the CR2032. Hope I didn't cause too much confusion

A cautionary tale for MG 4 EV owners

As it happens disconnecting the 12V battery in this case would have made no difference as it was the key fob battery to blame. That said, I think you are wise to carry the spanner as it is your only option to do a hardware reset if all else fails for other faults. But do get hold of a new CR2032...

A cautionary tale for MG 4 EV owners

Yes, you are correct, I could get into the car but not drive it. I did get a message that indicated that the key could not be detected and to move it to the bottom of the console bin when I tried to move off, but I did that and it still didn't work. So all this technology and the car is rendered...

I tried everything honestly and nothing worked. But here is an update on the issue. This very morning 29/04/2025), after charging the car to 100% the ismart app suddenly started again! Coincidence or not I really don't know, but I can say that even the settings were back to my original format...

A cautionary tale for MG 4 EV owners

This really happened and I have proof that all I say is true: So, I drive an MG 4 Trophy Long Range bought new in 2023. While staying for a few days in Harrogate, in particular to attend the flower show, the following happened to me and my wife. After the show had completed I decided to drive...

Thanks for the reply guys, tried all the usual tricks like locking/unlocking etc. but all have failed and the problem still persists, been going on for days. Suspect I may have to unbind and then rebind my phone. But loath to do this. Has anyone tried this before and have any tips, instructions...
