    What is "Kers"?

Ah, that's that it means! Thanks so much to @Totti1001 for asking the question, I had been puzzling over what it meant for ages! Thanks @BarrieG for the swift answer too.

    MG HS Hybrid +

Yes, I read that nonsense on the website too. It is wrong.

    MG HS Hybrid +

To answer some of your other (previous) questions: "How does the HS PHEV perform once the battery has depleted (75 miles?)" You hardly notice it change. There is a slight extra vibration (when on pure EV it's incredibly smooth) but it's miniscule. More details in my May 20th post here: 2025 MG...

    MG HS Hybrid +

In response to your "Which? magazine reviewed a Sportage PHEV whose mpg plummeted once the battery depleted. Is that the case with the HS PHEV?" question, below are some real-world statistics captured by me today. I drove to work this morning (69 miles) entirely on electric power. I set off...

    MG HS Hybrid +

Obviously there are loads of variables (how many miles you drive per day, if you have access to a driveway) but getting the PHEV could save you a lot per month in fuel. My back-of-a-fag-packet calculations suggest I'm saving about £70-£80 per month in fuel (including the cost of the added...

@securespark Fair point about the MG3 Hybrid+ forum MG3 Hybrid+ Forum - I hadn't seen that this website had one for that car! :)

    MG HS Hybrid +

I believe you are referring to this https://www.mg.co.uk/new-cars/mg-hs-hybrid. As far as I know, that's just a standard petrol engine with a small battery (that only gets charged by the petrol motor) good enough for a handful of miles around town. It is not a 'true' EV or a 'Plug in' => I...

    Home Charging for a Newbie

Completely agree with the recent posts. Eventually, almost all 'traditional' houses (non-flats, with a roof and a driveway etc) will have: Solar panels on roof Home electricity battery system Heat pump EV car EV charger The order that we purchase the above will differ depending on individual...

Apple Car Play using Wireless Dongle

@Eponemuss - Your link did not work. I believe that you meant this product ("TKHIN CarPlay Wireless for iPhone - Car Play Wireless Dongle for Factory Wired CarPlay to Wireless 5GHz WiFi Car Connection for Cars After 2016 (Only for iPhone)"): TKHIN CarPlay Wireless for iPhone - Car Play Wireless...

Apple Car Play using Wireless Dongle

@Lex in Holland - Correct my if I am wrong, but I believe that you have the older (2020-2024) MG HS. This thread is for the newer (2025) MG HS version. => It may be that your wireless dongle might only work on the older HS.

    Home Charging for a Newbie

Unless you drive more than approx 35 miles per day, then you should be able to get away with just using a 3-pin plug 'granny charger'. That's what I use. Specifically, if you have an off-peak tariff that gives you 5 hours 'cheap' electricity, then a granny charger will allow you to add approx...
