I think it’s a common issue for most MG4 owners that the car enters some kind of deep sleep mode where you can’t pull information from it anymore and therefore can’t, for example, preheat the car.
My solution (when this happened to me at home) so far has been to go to my kitchen window with the...
Germany is terribly overregulated in every imaginable way. Often, local rules from the city collide with laws from the state, which in turn conflict with federal laws. It’s a nightmare!
It just happened to me about 45 minutes ago. I parked the car in daylight and, when returning, I unlocked it and immediately noticed that something was wrong. I locked the car and unlocked it again, and at least the daytime running lights and normal lights came back on, but I was not able to...
Warranty will be voided for sure (at least for the infotainment software). But since you only have 3 years on the computer you could that after those 3 years.
In theory, you can calculate the exact amount of energy that is used for a single API pull, as you have data for both current and voltage. So you can get an idea of how good or bad a single pull is for the amount of energy stored in your 12v battery.
I asked ChatGPT how that could be done...
Just discovered this thread and must say it's quite interesting.
Has anyone tried connecting directly to the system yet? I don’t mean accessing it via the two USB ports in the center console, but rather by removing the glovebox and all the plastic panels in the passenger footwell to take a look...
Due to the car having a keyless go system, I believe there is always some kind of base-level voltage on the system (because the computer must be turned on to recognize your presence). However, I think the MG actually has two separate systems: one running the infotainment (Android on the center...
You are only allowed to use the software as you wish if you fulfill the conditions of the license. If you don’t, you are legally not allowed to use or change it. In this case MG seems to have violated the terms and conditions of that license.
I know, just hope that the day will come when aftermarket OBD coders can fix it. Since MG is currently getting sued in Germany for their software in the MG4, I think there might be a chance the court forces them to publish more details about their software so OBD coder companies can start...
I personally don’t need a new software update every 2 weeks (like you get with Tesla). Sure, it’s cool, but for the price I paid for my car I’d be happy enough if they just left the software as it is (in terms of new features) and focused on bug fixing. I actually don’t have many issues — it’s...
Seems that MG is currently getting sued in Germany over their software due to copyright and open-source license violations.
The case was brought forward by a buyer who claims that the vehicle’s software contains open-source components, but the required obligations (like license texts, copyright...
