    Insurance Renewal

Insurance quotes when he was 17 were £2500+, 40% off was £1000. The scrap moped we used for my second son too, when it had worked for him we sold it on and got more for it than we paid. It was a winner all round.

    Insurance Renewal

I did something a little bit better than this which worked well. Buy a scrappy, never to be ridden moped (£30 ours cost), insure it in your child's name, leave behind the shed for a whole year from their 16th birthday until they're 17. When they take out a policy as you suggest they have already...

    Insurance Renewal

I was in this situation when I shared a car with my son. I contacted Direct Line and asked what the definition of 'Main Driver' was, they couldn't give me an answer. The situation for us was that I drove the car 4 days per week an average of 6 miles per day. My son drove it twice per week but...

    Insurance Renewal

If you look back at the start of this thread you will see I was with Direct Line already. The quote online for the same insurance was som 37% cheaper. Direct Line is far from a budget insurance provider in terms of their policies and service when needed.

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

Agreed, for me, I'd look at either the length of time of any loan used to purchase the system (my case 60 months) or over a 10 year period in a linear fashion i.e. 10% per annum. It's not important, just interesting to see the results and if Rolfe is happy and I'm sure she is, thats all that...

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

I did say it's a great result, merely asked if any sort of write down of equipment cost had been included in the figures.

    Tomato Energy

Ah yes, I forgot that aspect, youre right, probably not. My commercial account with Tomato for my shop is only single rate, I send them readings weekly via MyWatts. Half Hour meter is bad news, I inherited one with my shop and it's impossible so far to get it downgraded to a SMETS2 smart...

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

Does the profit include some write down of the value of your install? It does sound like a great result, then again we have had an amazing year for sunny days too.

    Tomato Energy

Why not simply submit readings into Mywatts, you would then get an accurate bill while the metering is sorted out. Be careful if TE do change your meter, I have seen comments from a couple of people that they have installed 'half hour' meters, this is bad news for consumers because youre...
