Yes, I use the very useful USB port by the rear view mirror for my Viofo cam, it's so very neat with a very short angled cable, I've seen some VERY amateurish wiring jobs on dash cams, personally I couldn't live with some I've seen, neatness is crucial to me!

Sounds a reasonable idea and of course having the booster pack to charge wont drain too much from the traction battery, But I'm happy with removing the permanent live altogether, nice to have the extra security, but not to keep having the 12v battery drain quickly.

I had to re-wire my new S5, the battery kept going dead using a permanent live feed, in the end I used the USB C socket to the left of the centre rear view mirror cluster, such puny batteries on Ev's, couldn't cope, fingers crossed no problem since ripping out the permanent live!
