It’s not using fuel you seen that, but car looks at you driving the type of road you are on and works out how much range you will get from the fuel in your tank and then changes the read out on the dashboard so you know the range. But you have not used a drop of fuel

I think you need to get used to the car before saying that this is a fault, what is GEV mode and what does it do or do you mean HEV. I also suggest you look at page 157 in you user manual and that will answer you question why you used fuel.
