True in some respects but at less than 50% of the kerbweight I think it could have easily passed a 750kg test. It just just seems a shame just like my 35kg roof rails. I did hope that there would have been a bigger leap forward with full electric cars for when my pcp finishes.
Is there good enough charging infrastructure in the area? Do people have chance of getting home chargers (off road parking)? Do the councils do good financial incentives? Do people need to do more things with their cars like towing a caravan? Throw in the cost of living crisis and it shows that...
500kg is still enough for a decent camping trailer but MG still seem to be behind other full electric cars. It's a shame that they didn't rate it at 750kg like the e-niro for example. That's the maximum unbraked trailer weight and still fell within the B driving licence before last year's law...
I will contact them once I know if my neighbour agrees to my power upgrade request. If they veto it I will have to keep my off-peak time slot during the night. If they agree then it opens up a lot of cost saving options which may include a battery system to charge at off-peak rate and discharge...
I am coming to the end of my Octopus Go tariff and would like to shift my off-peak time to the evening. Every time I Google the Go faster tariff it doesn't come up. Is Octopus Go Faster still open? Does anyone have recent experience talking to Octopus about this tariff?
Just a word of warning for anyone who may need to use the Gap insurance. Me and my work mate were in a crash in January and my mate accepted the write off price before speaking to his gap insurers. They didn't agree with the price leaving a £3000 deficit. It looks like insurance providers don't...
Does it show battery size? It could be a problem in future proving the roof rail rating. The long range has MG Pilot but is that something that could be fitted after sale.
The cable glands into the charger should be external rated and, I would suggest with a weatherproof rubber or fibre washer. The penetration through the wall should be weather sealed with a silicone sealant, therefore no drip loop required. From the pictures the charger has a weatherproof...
Everything you say about insurance is of course correct, but how many people who are loading up their roof boxes are really weighing the items before they put them in? Luckily I won't need to carry more than the 35kg anyway or I would never have bought an MG5. I bought my SR after the new rating...
Towing capacity is an area where EV manufacturers need to up their game if they really are to offer a true alternative to ICE cars. The slight increases in range is not the only improvements that manufacturers need to focus on.
Not that I know. The face lift model in Europe has a tow rating of 500kg I believe. It seems to me that it's again below the actual needs of the average camper. Like roof rails that couldn't be used.
He did that without any consideration for the weight he was putting in as at that time they were rated to 50kg. No one knows where MG UK got that rating from. We just someone with a MG5 SR to weigh their loaded up roof rails in kg.
