[Guide] DIY Tesla Compatibility Update for MG5

Just want to add: swapping the EVCC module is very straightforward if you can find the correct model from e.g. an EV breaker on eBay. I swapped the module on my PFL SR and the car did not complain at all beyond the usual "how dare you unplug the 12V battery?!" warnings. However I still need to...

    Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

Maybe worth a new thread for those interested in doing this themselves? Like @boomish I'm not bothered enough to faff around with dealers and labour fees, but would happily try it myself. I know of other forums where pieces of specialised equipment just keep getting passed along to the next...

Unpairing phones from the infotainment system

We've just had a ZS as a courtesy car so bringing this thread back from the dead. You need to swipe the device in pairing history. Not obvious at all!

MG5 Supercharger: FAQ 2 - What upgrades does my MG5 need to use a Tesla charger?

Well, I found a decent price from EV Breakers on an EVCC from an LR, and combined with a stackable eBay discount it made it too tempting to pass up. Swapped it in 2 weeks ago and the car doesn't seem to care at all after I cleared the warnings from disconnecting the 12V battery. I haven't...

Spare a thought for the 50 or so people according to the UK baby names data who have named their kid "Elon" in the last decade - no sticker for that!

MG5 Supercharger: FAQ 2 - What upgrades does my MG5 need to use a Tesla charger?

As the not-original owner of our SR PFL MG5 (so no warranty to void), does anyone know if there's any issue swapping the EVCC myself? Is it coded to the car in any way? Obviously I might still need to get the code update done

Buying a three year old MG5.....

Just chipping in to say: Not all PFLs have emergency braking, but you can easily tell from the photos. If there's a weird square flat section front and centre under the "grille" it's got ACC, AEB and LKA. If there isn't, it hasn't! Handy if you find a dealer with more than 1 to choose from...

    Quirks of the MG5

Do you know if it's the MK1 or the MK2? One of the three MG5s we've had (leasing before buying got complicated) exhibited this behaviour quite a bit. It seems to be less likely if you wait for the car to "initialise" before taking it out of park. There may also be software updates a dealer...

Recent Valuation 30% of what I paid less than 2 years years ago...!

Apparently they're not locked to a particular vehicle (unlike many other manufacturers) so assuming it's not damaged could also be a nice range upgrade for a SR model

Recent Valuation 30% of what I paid less than 2 years years ago...!

I'm part of Dala's Discord and while it's just a few of us DIYing solutions in the UK there are also a variety of people in other countries starting up businesses providing off-grid systems built around second life batteries. Safety is discussed often and even when talking about LFP the current...

    Quirks of the MG5

We've owned a top trim 2016 Leaf, and driven basically all variants of the Pre-FL MG5. When people ask me "what's it like?" my general answer is: it's an affordable family EV, and it was clearly built to a price point. The "engine" view on the dash is very reminiscent of my brother's old Prius...
