My wife got me one of those mood rings that changes colour. It's not really my thing, but it was a thoughtful gift.
Anyway, I took it off to do some DIY last week and a couple of days ago I realised I've lost the thing.
I still don't know how I feel about that.
I might, but I'm willing to hold out a little longer to see if anyone decides they're done with theirs, or is willing to loan one. If not it'll have to be a new year present to myself
😭
I've been following a few people who've successfully installed their own updates and programmed their own keys using a VDI tool, and I'd love to play along. Once I'm done I can't foresee needing one of these again in the next few years, and I imagine there are a few of them sitting on various...
Just want to add: swapping the EVCC module is very straightforward if you can find the correct model from e.g. an EV breaker on eBay. I swapped the module on my PFL SR and the car did not complain at all beyond the usual "how dare you unplug the 12V battery?!" warnings.
However I still need to...
Maybe worth a new thread for those interested in doing this themselves?
Like @boomish I'm not bothered enough to faff around with dealers and labour fees, but would happily try it myself.
I know of other forums where pieces of specialised equipment just keep getting passed along to the next...
Well, I found a decent price from EV Breakers on an EVCC from an LR, and combined with a stackable eBay discount it made it too tempting to pass up. Swapped it in 2 weeks ago and the car doesn't seem to care at all after I cleared the warnings from disconnecting the 12V battery. I haven't...
As the not-original owner of our SR PFL MG5 (so no warranty to void), does anyone know if there's any issue swapping the EVCC myself? Is it coded to the car in any way? Obviously I might still need to get the code update done
Just chipping in to say: Not all PFLs have emergency braking, but you can easily tell from the photos. If there's a weird square flat section front and centre under the "grille" it's got ACC, AEB and LKA. If there isn't, it hasn't!
Handy if you find a dealer with more than 1 to choose from...
Do you know if it's the MK1 or the MK2?
One of the three MG5s we've had (leasing before buying got complicated) exhibited this behaviour quite a bit. It seems to be less likely if you wait for the car to "initialise" before taking it out of park.
There may also be software updates a dealer...
