    MG 5 Key Programming

I bought these - specifically the ID 47 -7953X variant. I've seen some comments about it needing to be a blank key but haven't tried. Aliexpress dynamic pricing in effect - I paid £18.59 each in November and if you're new to the site they're probably even cheaper. Took about 2 weeks to arrive.

    MG 5 Key Programming

Yeah, the two off-brand keys I got are both significantly weaker in terms of getting detected. I'm going to have a look at if it's possible to increase the signal somehow, maybe dremmelling out the plastic a bit as it's annoying having to take the key out of my pocket.

MG5 Supercharger: FAQ 2 - What upgrades does my MG5 need to use a Tesla charger?

Just checked. I'm in the same boat. @adamjs16 and update yet?

    MG 5 Key Programming

This guide is great. Unfortunately I'm an idiot and after successfully programming two keys then thought "oh hang on, I should remove the lost key while I'm here" and managed to stop the new ones working again. 🤦‍♂️ (2 hours later) Okay, I'm only a partial idiot. I went back to the car and...

Wanted: VDI tool for a few days to install updates, program keys

Thanks to @MGGareth I now have a VNCI in my possession. Now just need to get past the (documented) login error issue and I'll be off to the races.

MG5 Supercharger: FAQ 2 - What upgrades does my MG5 need to use a Tesla charger?

Oh, that's not good news. I haven't done mine yet - I don't actually need to use Tesla chargers, just want the option.

Hive EO mini 3 & MG4 charging issues

Did you read my post? I am simply saying that the open source community have a solution if anyone else has a Mini Pro2 and want to get scheduled charging back. I wish we didn't buy it, but given it's the charger we have, I think others in the same boat might want to know it's possible to get...

Hive EO mini 3 & MG4 charging issues

Bit of a necro-post, sorry, but possibly useful to anyone else staring at their one-smart-ish EVSE. My EO "smart home hub" (basically a mini Pro2 with the brains elsewhere so you can attach PV sensors) is out of support. Thankfully the brain is just a Raspberry Pi and woefully insecure. Same is...

    Replacing offside/drivers door mirror - advice/hints/tips

After getting run off the road by an idiot in an SUV last week (my choices were get hit or swerve into a wall - no, they didn't stop), this thread came in very handy. Replacement NS wing mirror off eBay, iFixit kit to help get the door card off, Impact driver and T30 bit for the bolts, job's a...

    Joke thread

My wife got me one of those mood rings that changes colour. It's not really my thing, but it was a thoughtful gift. Anyway, I took it off to do some DIY last week and a couple of days ago I realised I've lost the thing. I still don't know how I feel about that.

Wanted: VDI tool for a few days to install updates, program keys

I might, but I'm willing to hold out a little longer to see if anyone decides they're done with theirs, or is willing to loan one. If not it'll have to be a new year present to myself 😭

Wanted: VDI tool for a few days to install updates, program keys

Bump. If you've got a VDI3 tool sitting on your workbench, let me know!

Wanted: VDI tool for a few days to install updates, program keys

I've been following a few people who've successfully installed their own updates and programmed their own keys using a VDI tool, and I'd love to play along. Once I'm done I can't foresee needing one of these again in the next few years, and I imagine there are a few of them sitting on various...

[Guide] DIY Tesla Compatibility Update for MG5

Just want to add: swapping the EVCC module is very straightforward if you can find the correct model from e.g. an EV breaker on eBay. I swapped the module on my PFL SR and the car did not complain at all beyond the usual "how dare you unplug the 12V battery?!" warnings. However I still need to...
