MG5 SR to MGS5 LR - considering upgrading after test drive

The MG4 which the MGS5 is an improvement on, has a very stable speed limit setting. The only annoyance in the 4 is that it defaults to off every time you get in the car... and have to enable it, either to manual or auto sign recognition. I use it more than cruise control as, again in the 4...

Considering swapping MG4 for an MGS5 - Test Drive Thoughts.

Don't have the figure on me, but it's £350 +/-10

Considering swapping MG4 for an MGS5 - Test Drive Thoughts.

As the OP to this thread - an update. We have just ordered a Trophy in Blue to be delivered in line with the MG4 PCP finishing - and handing back at no loss (sitting in negative equity) 32,995 6,600 down 15k Miles (never going to hit that) 36month 0% pcp 13,450(or so) FGV The MG4 ER in Orange...

Decision time - keep or replace?

Well - with a 3 month build time, and 3 months left on the PCP - we've ordered the S5. Although the ER would have been nice, we've not struggled for range in the LR, and the whole improved infotainment made it an easier choice for the same (within 20quid) 3yr 0% PCP. The updated 4 later in the...

    Steering wheel heating

I seem to remember the previous version of the app in the UK used to have wheel heating, but the redesign removed it? As people say, it's quick enough when turned on, at most it will heat the air in the drivers side a little but not a lot else.

Decision time - keep or replace?

We are in the same situation, with the same upside down equity, and have been considering options. We also had good fortune when trading in and buying the car just as the used car price bubble was bursting - so expected the GFV to not be realistic. No pre-registered on our radar, but we were...

Considering swapping MG4 for an MGS5 - Test Drive Thoughts.

So - our MG4 Trophy Phase2 is out of PCP in a few months, and at the moment running at an equity loss. Our original plan was to "hand it back" for the FGMV, and then pick up a discounted ER (in Orange! which is the lesser of colour evils for the missus) on a new PCP at 0% for 36 months. However...

    Which colour shows the dirt?

Overall I don't find Blue too bad - however the "dip" in the bonnet/hood seems to gather dirt after the moisture gathers there and pulls pools of cr ap into it that cant escape.

Can I trust the displayed battery data?

The GoM is always as the name says, a bit of a guess, and if you are needing to do the 100% balancing charge, it could be out by a bit considering the cold mornings that have not really stopped since November. But on paper it seems right. 62kWh usable battery @ 4mi/kWh = 248 miles range which...

    Autohold activation

My other (7 year older - so lots of time to get used to it) car also has auto hold so am used to the feature, however the MG needs a LOT firmer push to engage... which is fine, but still catches me out sometimes.

    2nd service

To be fair, for a couple of quid, I would rather have parts and items changed on a 1yr / 15k (or 10k) whatever the limit is, full service to keep things in check, rather than something needing attention outside of the schedule because it wasn't deemed needed at service time. Less to do and go...

    2nd service

Mine was online, selecting Nottingham as my dealer (who I purchased the car through, and knocked them down close enough to a local CarWoW quote. As mentioned it was 18 months ago, so prices may have crept up, but that gives a good indication of the year to year differences.

    2nd service

If it helps, when we purchased ours 18 months ago, we went with a 5yr service plan inc 3 MOT (seeing the warranty is longer, a monthly payment to keep things going is fine) year on year the price covered by the plan changed lots, 1yr/10k miles (but should cover up to 15k) 1 £98 2 £179 3 £98 4...

Best / most efficient regen braking setting?

I use Level 1, and have the mode switch on a star button to move it from 3 asap Main reason is release and coast, not triggering the brake lights, as it caps at -5% regen, so can happily remove foot from pedal going down hill, some slight regen to keep within the speed limit, but not blinding...

Quick toggle between ACC and TJA

Need to try tomorrow, but does it also cycle the speedlimiter? Pet peeve is that it remembers to be in limit mode, rather than ACC... but always defaults to off.
