One pedal won't work when the car is at 100% charge. It needs something below 100%, I don't know the exact number, before you can turn it on.

Just to add my two cents: My MG4 Luxury, manufactured in March of 2023 and sold in Luxembourg, has R40 listed and has remarkably few issues. I've just been assuming that the R40 build plus whatever calibration they do is working fine for me.
