Hiya, using the unlock button didn't resolve it, nor did pulling the handle then pulling again, but pulling the handle and letting it 'slap back' and then opening did the trick :)

I just charged my brand new MG5 at Gridserve Moto station in Exeter and was able to auto charge. I sat in the car while it charged and all seemed to be quite straightforward and work ok

Ah thanks for this, I am completely new to MGs. So is the door not broken then? Is this how you’re meant to open it?

Hi there, I had my MG5 delivered on Tuesday and just discovered we have exactly the same problem with our brand new car. Your 'fix' has worked though, so thanks very much for sharing :) I have still contacted the lease company though to see what can be done in terms of replacing the mechanism.
