    Charging pin melt

No, all good - have charged three times on type 2 posts since.

    Charging pin melt

Just to follow up on this - the port was replaced under warranty and I ditched the charging cable on the grounds that too much heat had passed through it to be certain of correct function, even if it had been good in the first place. Now using an MG supplied Type2 cable and after the car passed...

    Charging pin melt

The charging cable was from the brand VonHaus and they do seem to still be in business. Not that price is necessarily a guide to quality but it was about the same price and spec as cables from evcables.com but bought via Amazon (because I had a free Prime sub).

    Charging pin melt

I’m not really knowledgeable about the ways charging units go wrong but I’ve been charging there without an issue for 15 months, around once or twice a week and sometimes throughout the working day. Having said that two of the three posts were out of order that evening (and have been for about a...

    Charging pin melt

It was on charge in a supermarket car park, rather than home.

    Charging pin melt

There's some blackening of the internal connector and melted plastic attached to my cable. Put it this way, regardless of where the fault lies, I am not about to test that on anyone else's (nor my own) vehicle. So yes, I'm out a charging cable whatever happens. It's not an MG one - I received...

    Charging pin melt

Thanks - yes, the three pin was mainly plugged in as a test to try to get a bit more info as to whether the car would detect or report a fault. There's enough distorted plastic around the other pins so I will heed the advice on the DC side too - it's all close together and there's no way of...

    Charging pin melt

Hi, I've got an MG4 Trophy and left it on a 7kW charger or a couple of hours the other evening. Returned in the dark and noticed some resistance when I unplugged the charger. A closer look showed the base of one of the charging pins had melted and was coming out attached to the charging cable...

MG4 Spotted! : Was it you?

Yes, Stanbrook Abbey is another hotel location, like the BP Pulse at the Malvern Spa so probably limited to guests and visitors.

MG4 Spotted! : Was it you?

Yeah this was via Google Maps and purported to be an 'Engie charger. I noticed there was an electricians yard across the way from the Texaco so maybe a private one ? No reviews on Google:

MG4 Spotted! : Was it you?

It does. And I'm aware of and use ZapMap etc. I'm wondering if anyone local to Malvern knows much about what the large retail park nearby, new Aldi with large car park are doing with respect to charging infrastructure. I did use the car nav this morning and pulled up near the Texaco at Spring...

    MG4 Charging Cables

I've got the longest one already (7.5m) ... Thanks. Out of interest can you easily tell the two cables apart by eye ?

    MG4 Charging Cables

If I was type 2 all the way would the signalling sort itself out ? I'm waiting on a tethered charger at home and wondered about using the loose type2 cable as an extender for that in some situations ...

    MG4 Charging Cables

So I didn't have a three pin extension cable available and thought I could take the type 2 end of the granny charger into the other end of the cable I've bought for untethered points, and from there into the car charge port ...

MG4 Spotted! : Was it you?

Maybe I'll get spotted in Malvern in my grey trophy :) You might be seeing a grey trophy round Malvern now ... any tips for charging ? Caught out by services charger not working this morning. I work near the Malvern Spa hotel and noticed there was a BP Pulsar charger there but suspect for...
