Thanks both. I was quite surprised also - Thule bike racks that mount in the same way as the Saris don't have any side straps so I'm reasonably happy the side straps don't do very much if Thule is willing to sign off!

Hi, just wondering if you’ve had any issues with the side straps slipping? I’ve just been into a Halfords store and they’re not confident on them staying in place.
