    IM5/IM6 Improvement requests?

An update on potential accessories would also be useful. Will there be any roofbars? I know it's a peculiar roof design and the frameless doors don't help but there must be a solution. I have seen quite a few posts on social media of people not going ahead because of this. Towbar?

    IM5/IM6 Improvement requests?

Apologies I forgot something that I reckon is quite important. More regen levels and ideally have single pedal driving mode. I mean far lesser (technologically) EVs have it, I can't see why it could be offered by IM.

    IM5/IM6 Improvement requests?

Hi Mike. The Tesla system drains from the main battery since for the sentry mode all cameras, computer etc need to be active. If the car hits 20% on main battery load then it switches off. It does not operate on the 12V.

    IM5/IM6 Improvement requests?

Hi MikeJS. This is a very detailed list; I believe you covered everything. Only think I would like to add is the following: 1. Dashcam recording from all cameras 2. Sentry mode mode the likes of Tesla. Miles I hope you get some positive feedback from IM. The majority of these updates are well...

UK version is stripped of magnets

In my case none of the ferrite magnets stuck to the points. Tried different sizes, etc they were falling off. The neodymium ones it takes some serious effort to take them off. In any case I am quite happy that they are usable. Order at AliExpress already placed 😄

    Sport mode....

To be fair I didn't notice any slipping or loss of steering control. The pedal response was jerky. I mean I was feathering the pedal and the car was jumping forward. I am really surprised by some reviews where they claim that there is lag in the acceleration. I experienced nothing but lag. It...

    Software updates

Europe specs can be quite different to Asian ones regarding Chinese cars. Quite often the versions we get are striped down, downgraded ones. Before I got the IM I was contemplating the byd Sealion7. I was really surprised during the test drive that all smart functionalities were removed.... when...

UK version is stripped of magnets

Neodymium ones should be fine regardless? To be fair what you suggest is exactly what I did. Tested with a simple ferromagnetic, didn't work. Got a neodymium one and spot on.

UK version is stripped of magnets

I can confirm by the way that my car does have magnets. Found a neodymium one and it does stick nicely.

    Sport mode....

Well dropped the kids at school today and carried on driving to work. At one point of my route I go through 30 areas and then there is a sharp turn to a road with 60 limit. Surprisingly this morning traffic was dead and that road was empty... Took the turn, activated sport mode and bloody...

Home Chargers - Cold weather issues, or more FUD?

Just noticed this. What a load of @@. was -5 the other night. Car was charging happily all night. On top of this house batteries were also charging and the heat pump was warming up the water thus draining even more leccy than what is needed for heating. No probs whatsoever.

    Software updates

I really do not understand why MG is so reluctant to go ahead with OTAs. I mean if BYD, a company with far less presence and history in the UK up till last year happily rolls them out (wife's car already had 2 significant updates the last year) then why MG is holding back?

    Software updates

I have a feeling that at least for the first year of ownership any updates that we will get software wise would be delivered when we go to the dealer's for the annual service. Hoping to be proven wrong....

    Efficiency

Ok something really weird happened yesterday afternoon. I had to take the kids to their martial arts lessons. Drove the car there and car was dead on 2.1 miles per kWh as it is these days. On the way back home; exactly the same route, speed, elevation rates, temperature I got 2.7! This morning...

    IM6 Rapid Charging

No, to be fair I did not do that. I was out all morning driving and was passing that spot and went on a whim. Was driving around for a while though, around 2 hours at least with short stops. I will try this option next time I am given the chance.

    IM6 Rapid Charging

I am not sure what went wrong there. I was all alone so no load sharing and the car was warmed up battery wise since I was out and about for a couple of hours at least. I will try them again at some point or will look for alternative options around the area.

    IM6 Rapid Charging

I tested some Ionity chargers near my home recently. First plugged into the 350kW ones. Was getting 80 kW too. Underwhelming. Then plugged into the 400kW one; these are however limited to 200... Went up to 180 kW. Not great; not terrible.

    Window wipers

No issue with mine either. Maybe they need a good clean?
  19. NikLiverpool

    Efficiency

I cannot drive any smoother that I do at the moment. Continuously in ECO, no sudden braking or acceleration. It is a combination of weather and weight. 2.5tn is a lot to move around. Furthermore when I swap from Comfort to ECO the guessometer goes up for at least 10 miles. How true this is...

    Efficiency

You should be happy both :) First 500 miles so far mixed city and motorway driving and I am getting 2.0 to 2.2 m/kw lol. Ok the weather is not great but still. IM6 launch continuously on ECO. Besides yesterday and this morning (snow).

    Driving on snow and ice

Hi both. Thanks for the feedback. Good to hear that I am not the only one who finds the IM easy to drive on snow and ice. I was seriously contemplating of swapping tyres with all weather ones; loved the Cross climates on my 3 but unfortunately I cant find anything for the IM. :(

    Driving on snow and ice

Hi all, So today first day back at work I had the wonderful (lol) opportunity to test my IM6 on snow and ice. Car was nice and toasty with preheat and then set it on snow mode while deactivating all ADAS as usual. I must admit I was a bit apprehensive due to tyre size and spec (summer ones) but...

Preheat works like a charm to be honest. 30 minutes this morning and all worked fine. Better than the Tesla where even with preheat I had to slam the door handles to break the ice...

Anyone else having issues with the app today?

Mine is fine too. Just checked. Although it does state that the temperature inside the car is -13 oC lol.

    Wrapped badges

Fair point. Personally I found it contradicting being an IM and carrying MG badges. I also like simpler looks, I had my 3 debadged too and previous cars 🙂

News on delivery of first Batch of IM6

I reckon two main reasons for these delays. IM prioritising production and delivery for launch and performance since biggest profit margins. Private sales priority since more profits for MG dealers. It should normalize by summer time. For reference I ordered my Launch end of October and got...

    Towing

Having given up on the Idea of having roof bars the only option left would be a box on the tow bar. I looked everywhere yesterday and couldn't find anything besides an iffy Chinese site where from what I could understand was a 3d party one How long does it usually take for MG to release tow...

    I smart issue

Never trust the app was my Moto with the Tesla too. On quite a few occasions the car was unresponsive to the app. I always had the card in my phone case. I do the same with the IM. By the way my app is not responding either.

    Chinese manufacturers

I think the issue with Musk is the sense of betrayal. With China you know where you stand. Although in my eyes we as West demonize them whilst we forget the horrors we have inflicted and still do around the world. I guess they are a threat to our global dominance. As for Musk a guy who's...

    Etiquette when flashing ?

I was getting flashed a lot when I was driving my model 3. Then I realised that the bloody thing every time it had an OTA it would reset the lights alignment to max height.... Therefore I went into the routine of re-aligning the lights every month. So far with the IM or my wife's Atto3 I have...

You can always debadge. Dead easy with hairdryer, dental floss and a bit of WD-40 for any left residue.

    Auto folding mirrors

Silicone treatment sounds good. To be fair I got delivery last week, need to find time to apply on both cars. Weekend job it is. There are quite a few software tweaks that the car needs. Hopefully the rumoured OTAs will help... when and if...

    Auto folding mirrors

I can't find it either. Could you not preheat the car when frost temperatures occur? Should help with the issue. It will also help with the pop out door handles being frozen in place.

    IM6 mud guards

Good morning and Happy new year! No need to remove tyres or anything. There are three screws for each wheel. Two on the back of the wheel arch and one at the bottom. Unscrew, put the mudguards in place and screw back. Done.
