I believe the drainage holes are an OAU ie it rains, it rusts it drains😀. My 1979 MG Midget was waxoyled from new and underbody remained pristine for the 13 years I had it which is more than could be said for the sills which were replaced twice🙁

To reassure all this scenario is not unique to the MG4 (Look at any other EV forum). Hopefully a reducing problem across the EV space. PS Had similar problems but thankfully never had to use the boot release.
