    Windscreen USB socket

This is a photo of my Wife’s MG ZS Hybrid+, fitted as standard with a windscreen USB socket. Very convenient for fitting a Dashcam without the need to run an untidy cable from the dashboard to the top of the windscreen. Strangely the Phase II HS doesn’t have this as standard or option. Before I...

    Boot mat / Liner

I’d like to keep the boot floor unmarked by fitting a bespoke mat or liner. I’ve searched Amazon shopping for a Phase II HS PHEV boot mat but none have appeared, is the non PHEV boot the same shape? Is so I can order one of those. Or has anyone got a better source of supply?

    Did you know, Cruise/Lane assist

Apologies to all who already know this. Like many I start each journey by disabling the annoying functions: Overspeed audible warning, Lane assist, Driver fatigue monitoring, Driver awareness monitoring. But on long motorway journeys I like the security offered by Lane Keep Assist. I’ve only...

    Hill Descent Control (HDC) explained

I had HDC on my previous HS PHEV and again on this 2025 version. I tried it on both and concluded it’s an interesting feature but as it keeps the car at walking pace it’s not much use in the real world. However, I’ve just discovered that if you engage it then accelerate to a higher speed it will...

    Camera green screen

Yes, I’ve had this once also, but it reverted to normal next time I started the car. I also have a friend here in Spain who also has a MG HS PHEV 2025, he had the same experience a few days ago, same outcome. Until it becomes a frequent recurrence I’m happy to live with it until first service...

Thoughts on first 7 months ownership

Hi Nic, Thanks for your positive comments. Yes I do have a spreadsheet, I was career military so good pension but not wealthy, so there was a real need to assess projected outgoings & incoming and understand what was available to spend in the long term. Consequently I took a big leap and retired...

    Charger locked ,What I did

And as I recently found out, if you don’t remove the charging plug when you unlock the car it will time-out and relock the charging plug after about 30 seconds, preventing plug removal even though the car is unlocked. I got round this by relocking then unlocking the car, the charging plug could...

    Road Trip

We’ve just completed the outbound leg of our first long road trip in the PHEV. Lots of researching and planning to get refuelled and recharged at the optimum locations along the way. The trip took us from Norfolk UK to Portsmouth where we refuelled then fully recharged on a PodPoint charger...

    Extension lead?

This company: Tough Leads is my go to supplier in the UK. No use to you in OZ but it does give you an idea of what specialist suppliers are supplying to the EV market. I’d guess there are equivalent suppliers in all countries you can locate with a google search.

    Accessories

AliExpress was recommended to me by a forum member (thanks Ian), for sourcing the many accessories that are becoming available for the HS. I downloaded the AliExpress app which was easy to use, and paid by PayPal. It took about two weeks to arrive, no import customs was payable. I can’t fault...

    Display freeze

Had a new glitch today. Mid journey about 3 hours in, the display froze on the media page, audible navigation commands still working but no amount of button pushing would override the media display page. Pulled over and went straight for an infotainment system reset, press and hold the home...

Thoughts on first 7 months ownership

I tried 19 degrees set both sides this morning with an outside temperature of 11 degrees C, but “EV mode not supported”. However, after 2 or 3 minutes I was able to select EV mode, so minimal delay.

Thoughts on first 7 months ownership

Glad your enjoying your PHEV, I wish I had as many opportunities to run full EV but the UK winter is forcing the petrol engine to run for the first few miles of every journey. Also my solar is barely producing anything on these short, grey, Winter days. But heading for warmer climes soon!
