I do the same with my ZS EV. I took the tool tray out of the space and fitted a full size spare wheel in easily. I keep the pump, and repair kit plus a charger there too.
I don't know about the MG5 but the ZS EV gen 1 definitely has space for a full size spare

The towbar fitted but there was no facility to plug the wiring in.
The main problem is that the Gen 1 has no tow rating in Australia, so that means it is illegal to have a towbar on the car according to the dealer.
