    Service history - issues obtaining

The Data Protection Act 2018 is the UK implementation of GDPR (the whole point was to have a common, EU-wide dataprotection system). The UK government call DPA 2018 UK-GDPR and. currently, it is the same as EU GDPR. MG UK (and, presumably, MG France) clearly state that you are entitled to see...

    Service history - issues obtaining

This is what MG said to me - so they think the Registered Keeper is entitled to the data. From: Customer Service <[email protected]> Sent: 25 April 2025 10:29 Cc: Customer Service <[email protected]> Subject: Online Query Good morning, Thank you for contacting MG customer care...

    Service history - issues obtaining

They are wrong. You are the Registered Keeper so the data is yours not theirs - just like it would be in a Service Book. If you didn't pay for the service there could be an argument but, as it is a condition of maintaining the breakdown service then you have a right to the data. A Data Subject...

    Service history - issues obtaining

In October last year, hit a piece of metal in the road which slashed both offside tyres. I rang the support number and they said that I no longer had support as I hadn't had it serviced in the last year by an MG garage. I said that I had it serviced by Drive MG Darlington in the previous...

    TPMS pairing?

They didn't clone them as they are 150 miles away - probably just programmed them correctly.

    TPMS pairing?

I have a set of wheels for winter (with TPMS fitted by the wheel supplier) and the originals for summer. I swapped them over yesterday and the MG reads the wheels straight away.

    taller tyres on MG5?

Plus your odometer is dependent on having the correct size tyres. My old Saab 9-3 could be configured (using Tech-2) for different tyre sizes. I would guess the MGs have a similar ability to cope with different specs.

    All season tyre choices

If you're driving on an icy road having grippy tyres on the back is fine until you come to a corner. If you turn the wheel and the front wheels lose grip you have no braking effort on the front and rear wheels gripping in a straight line to push you off the road....

    All season tyre choices

No, if you have one set of tyres which is gripping better than the other you can induce 'snaking' in the vehicle - check out HonestJohn and others

    taller tyres on MG5?

No, the aspect ratio is dependent on the tread width so the tyre will look taller because the tread will be narrower (it won't actually be taller though but the ride will be more compliant). Yes smaller wheels would be better though.

    Tyres - odd sizing?

Don't trust the websites (they say check the real size anyway). 50 - 55 will make the speedometer under read by 3%

    taller tyres on MG5?

If you go for taller tyres they will need to be narrower to keep the speddometere correct.

    All season tyre choices

Not good practice to have diferent types of tyres frontand back

How to reliably turn lane keeping off?

Yes, I get a red indication when near the white line (MG4 Trophy LR)

ABRP and Enode instead of OBD dongle !

Also evcc.io which allows remote control of a home charger rather than using the charger app
