Must be me, because I had assumed everyone would do the same.....
I bought a short (8 inches) USB cable on Ebay (good quality one that is fabric covered) and connect the phone and put it above the dampened flap cover. Safe and sound there and doesn't fly on to the floor when going around bends...
Morning all,
Anyone else find the rear screen and rear camera get covered in c**p in the wet weather we have had recently?
Seems to be worse on the HS than any other similar hatchbacks or SUV's I've owned.
I assume it is the aerodynamics of the car, but any thoughts on whether rear mud flaps...
If you decide to go down the extension lead route, check carefully the waterproof rating of the extension socket and cover. Most of the ones you can buy from the likes of Wickes or Screwfix, are only IP44 rated (ie. SPLASHPROOF!). Unless you can be absolutely sure they are not going to get wet...
That's good advice, but quite frankly isn't it all a faff?
Why does it need to be so difficult?
If you are driving a petrol or diesel car, you NEVER have to think about all this, you just go to any filling station and fill up. Electric needs to be the same and providers need to stop...
Hi all, further to my earlier comments on Android Auto connection, I've done a whole lot more testing and found that if it doesn't connect , unplugging and re-plugging the USB A connector, always gives me a connection.
I can live with that! 🙂
My phone sits on the open cover of the USB and power socket area. I use a short (9inches) USB cable so no excess cable to hide. The phone sits there really well and never falls out. When I've finished driving I disconnect the cable and tuck it back under the flap before closing it.
I assumed...
I have a similar problem I spoke to my dealer about it last week and he tried his phone and cable which connected immediately. He then tried the salesmans Android phone with the same cable which also connected. We then tried my phone (Samsung) which also then connected. Naturally he then said...
No, the rear lights came on at the same time the DRLs illuminated. If it was auto lights function the headlamps would have come on and the info screen darkened to night time illumination. That didn't happen. And I specifically checked.
Interesting.
I know sound quality is very subjective and a high degree of personal preference, but I find my HS PHEV definitely lacking in bass "oomph" and "warmness" especially at lower volume levels, despite setting maximum bass and the electronic subwoofer to max.
I have to admit I'm...
If it is daytime and you have light patchy fog, it would be better if you knew your rear lights were on. Problem is that people may assume that auto headlight will come on but they may not if it isn't dark enough. Driver can see their electronic dash is lit up and assume everything is fine - may...

They do versions with/without RCD protection and are the only ones I found that are IP66 rated (ie. Fully waterproof).
Well, I haven't yet looked at updating the oem sat nav on my HS, but a couple of thoughts.
1. Waze is great and I really like that it shows your actual satellite calculated speed rather than the car's speedometer (although in fact it is actually very accurate I've found) similarly Google...
Hi, I've had 2 instances of low pressure in tyres since fitting my HSPhev 2 months ago
1st instance on ns front just leaving the dealer after a complimentary valet. I went vack and they checked the pressures and reset the system.
The 2nd a few weeks later on os front. I called the dealer and...
Hi all,
Well, an update to my original post about viewing video files in an HS.
Firstly, I realised that the files I was trying g to view were all either .MP4 or .MKV files (both types play audio but not video either with the system in 'standby' or on - 'system ready'.
So I converted 1 files...
Yes, I was aware a screen (video) could not be viewed by the driver whilst driving, just not sure why it couldn't be viewed if the vehicle was stopped and parked?
I had an Audi TT with an after-market entertainment system that could show video whilst the engine was stopped and key in the AUX...
