The app is not that…great. It got a lot better over the last years (we have also an older MG ZS EV). There are still some issues. The most annoying thing is, that the app can’t reach the car, when it’s in deep sleep. This is bad, when you want to pre heat the cabin during winter.
My guess is...
It's connected via a hardwire kit. Due to the cable routing to the rear cam and the connection to the fuse box of the car, I paid a local company to do it. That was around 400€. So not really cheap. The car is on a lease and I have to park it on the street...so worthwhile I think.
Rubber floor mats (original MG). The carpeted ones are really bad (even worse than in our MG ZS EV)
CarLink WLAN CarPlay dongle
Viofo two channel dash cam
I also suspected this, after thinking about it.
But as you mentioned, this worked before. So it seems an iOS 26 issue.
I opened a support ticket with them. Maybe they can do something.
Or not...
Today it started working again (after weeks)...
So...I can only think of two possible reasons it stopped working. Some issues in the backend of the cell service or I exceeded somehow (don't know how) the data limit.
Will observe further...
I found the reason. Like somebody mentioned in this thread, it was an app that seems not to be fully compatible with iOS 26. As soon as I removed it from the CarPlay settings, it worked just fine.
I also have done this:
"The CarPlay widgets are what’s causing the issue. Your CarPlay head unit isn’t powerful enough to have them running even in the background. To fix it, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, select your CarPlay stereo, and then go to Widgets. Now, slide the Show Widgets...
Thanks...I also tested a bit more:
I used the phone with an older adapter from ottocast in the MG ZS EV and it worked without any problems. The new adapter (the one from the MG4) froze after a while. This is the same issue that occurred in the MG4.
After the upgrade to 26b4 and this test I...
It was a new phone (12 -> 17 Pro Max). I also (painstakingly) setup the new device from scratch (without backup) to be sure to avoid any issues with a corrupt setup on the old phone.
That's a good question. I don't use the 4G connection of the car. Everything goes over CarPlay. So...there shouldn't be anything draining the data on the car.
Anyways...I have disabled BT/WLAN of the car. I will wait until November and check again.
Furthermore, I wonder why the iSMART-Support...
