    Our first long journey...

May not fit in with your plans, but Tebay on the M6 North and South is a great service area, and has several chargers that take cards rather than fiddly apps - I always stop there first when heading North.

    MG5 Speed limit warning

One thing that I find annoying about the speed limit warning - it tells you the speed limit just as you're leaving that zone! e.g. 30 mph going into 50 mph, just as you pass the 50mph sign, it will say the speed limit is 30. Mine is a 21 reg MG5 Standard Range (bit of a dinosaur now).

    Test drive NIGHTMARE!!!!

I'm a software engineer (50 years this year since I began!) and I deal with issues reported by users on a daily basis. It does gall me when you try and report something to a dealership and their instinct is to deny what you're reporting! Or to fob it off, but in any case not to escalate to the...

    Removing the parcel shelf

I do this occasionally to fit in my bike, back seats down, when I have to take my MG5 for a service - just a shame there isn't a little bit more room in the car!

    Three Years Already

Yep, very similar to me, got my MK1 MG5 2021 Exclusive SR in Jun 2021. Very happy with it. Done almost 40k miles now, frequent visits to the Peak District (about 60 miles) and 18 miles to work 3 days a week (and back again). Just had first MOT. It does go through front tyres though! Charging at...

    Fine Control of Power Windows

I've played with it often enough to know what it does, and it isn't ideal. I can make it work, but it isn't the way I'd do it. You say I've made no effort - I have had to make the effort. And I don't like the way it works. Doesn't seem that "accurate" to me. Perhaps mine is faulty in some way...

    Fine Control of Power Windows

The point I was making is it isn't very handy having to faff about touching it a little bit, then finding you've done it too much - I'd rather be able to move it to where I want without single short presses. Had one old car whose passenger window did just that, was much better - for me anyway...

    Fine Control of Power Windows

I did mean exactly what I said, if I was designing these buttons that's what I'd do - but then I'm a software developer, and you have to bear in mind how your functionality will be used when designing.

    Fine Control of Power Windows

Wouldn't it be great if manufacturers designed it so that if you want the window to keep going up or down, you just had to keep holding the button - and it stops when you take your finger off - that would be a much better design! But no, they never think of that - all cars do the same thing -...

    Clocks go forward charger

My Wallbox Pulsar Plus was set up with 00:35 to 04:25, the low tariff times for Flexible Octopus, and the times were changed from 00:35 to 02:00 after the Spring clock change - not ideal. However it's only twice a year to have to alter it.

    Not charging on home Wallbox

Hi, I've got a Wallbox Pulsar Plus which was fine for the last two and a half years, then went into error mode (red LEDs) occasionally. Wallbox sent me a part from Spain, a cable - this was fitted recently and no issues so far - but what I wanted to highlight was that the problems started when I...

Wallbox Pulsar Plus keeps dropping WiFi

Had a Wallbox Pulsar Plus for coming on for 3 years, it's been fine - connecting to Wifi at more than 6 feet to router - however it has developed an electrical fault, and Wallbox are going to replace with a new one - still under warranty, which lasts 3 years (just made it in time!). Wallbox...

New to EVs And the MG5

The odd thing about the MG5 is that it was developed as a petrol car (I believe it was the the Roewe 350 ?) by SAIC, so it has a big bonnet and room for an engine - unlike other EVs which have a snub nose, no need for a roomy compartment in the front. Had my Short Range MG5 since June 2021, love it!

    Waterproof cover/shelter

I had my wall charger fitted in the porch by the front door - keeps it out of the rain, and I don't have to watch out when I'm watering the hanging baskets. Though not everyone will have a porch.

Where do you have the home wall charger located?

Inside the porch for me - saves the charger being open to the elements.
