My original MG4 has an option of setting the Theme to Light / Dark / Auto. I'd be amazed if the Urban didn't do likewise. 🤷♂️
(As it happens, I leave mine permanently set to Dark theme).
Know the Birtley area well .. or I did, anyway until I left in 1997. (Used to live in Portmeads, then Vigo). I guess it's changed a lot since then. The AC Birtley branch looks to be where the old truck stop was. :)
If you have R38, what target temperature do you set for the HVAC? (i.e. what is the range of the temperature control?) If 21°C is roughly in the middle of the range then you've likely already had the HVAC module update.
Mine was on R38 (with all relevant other updates) so I did the R45 update...
Mine aren't peeling, but they show signs of bubbling .. mostly on the nearside front which is the wheel that sees the most sunlight when the car is reverse-parked on my drive.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained .. if it works then you've avoided dealer hassle; if it doesn't then you can at least explain that you've tried that. 🤷♂️
Any reset items (windows, steering) don't require use of the Info screen to do them.
DO NOT replace SWI131 with SWI68! They're different software branches intended for use with cars having different hardware (hence software) modules .. AFAIK.
Tried disconnecting the 12V battery -ve lead, leaving it for 30 minutes then reconnecting it? (You'll need to reset the window controls and recentre the steering after doing so - both very easy tasks and covered in the Wiki thread).
The USB A port is labelled differently (in the MG4 at least) because it is also a data mirroring port - i.e. it supports (wired) Apple Carplay and Android Auto. :)
Dad used to have a Datsun 180B .. this was 1980/81 ish, but the car was already a few years old before he bought it. It had to be scrapped because the suspension basically collapsed due to rust.
It was supposed to auto-unlatch when the fuel flow stopped - the mechanism for stopping fuel flow when the tank is full is not really any different now to what it was back then - but I can imagine there'd be times when the flow stoppage mechanism failed .. when someone is holding the trigger...
I think you have to do it before the term expires (i.e. when you're due to pay the MGFV), but after you've paid off 50%+ of the financed amount (which includes the MGFV). So the 50% point would usually be reached at roughly 40 months into a 48 month term (for example).
In previous times (20+ years ago?) you technically could .. you could start fuel filling and engage the latch so you didn't have to keep the trigger manually pressed. ;)
Until the 2026 model came out, the MG4 batteries were:
SE SR - 51kWh LFP
SE LR - 64kWh NMC
Trophy LR - 64kWh NMC
Trophy ER - 77kWh NMC
(kWh are stated capacities, not usable capacities).
Indicators on left stalk, wipers on right stalk .. that's the way all cars should be. I don't even mind the reversed direction of the wiper stalk that many (Stellantis?) cars use (down rather than up), at least the wipers are on that stalk. :)
That doesn't resolve anything, because a) We weren't talking about warranty, and b) The SOH is just a number and bears little reality to actual degradation .. with LFP packs the stated SOH is known to be a time-based calculation. The only relevance of the stated SOH is in regards the warranty. ;)
I remember, about 30+ years ago, at the Newcastle Beer Festival, trying a half of Big Lamp Blackout .. Big Lamp being the local brewery. It was about 13% ABV, and a half was easily enough. One of the guys really liked it so he ended up having 2 pints of it .. a short while later we went looking...
That's why (when talking about AC charging efficiency) I refer to fixed losses and variable losses .. variable losses increase as charge rate increases, but fixed losses are independent of charge rate. Ergo charging efficiency reduces as charge rate reduces, because the fixed losses become a...
Does the AA connection drop at that point? (i.e. it could be the braking causes the USB cable connection to fail - either at the phone or car end - and this causes the issue to materialise)
#hypothesis :)
You've misunderstood me ... the MG4 (not the Urban) does not look like a bulbous piece of Tupperware; it actually has more of a look of the Lambo Urus. ;)
Lambo:
MG4:
That's one of the things that attracted me to the MG4 .. it has the looks of a hatchback rather than an SUV, and the sharp front end looks good. (The arse end is less good, but we can't have everything). :)
I understand that, but .. in many cars (certainly non-LFP cars) the target SoC defaults to 80%, so even if they left the car plugged in a lot of the time, and left it idle for longer periods, the battery won't be sitting at 100% anyway. :)
Sounds like your car has already had SC077 and associated updates, so no issue on the LKA front. It's just other updates (like HVAC*) and Infotainment that are missing.
* The HVAC update vastly improves how HVAC performs .. previously I would have to set the target temp to 25C and manually set...
A 2022 car will be on the SWI69 software branch .. the very latest for that is SWI69-29958-1100R45. (Mine came with R13 from new, so the OP's is on a very early release).
There are other software updates though, not just the Infotainment. If you get R38 or later (like R45) then you also really...
Exactly. In fact a Motability user is more likely than most to use their car for short journeys, said journeys never needing the 100% range of the battery. :)
Regardless of the chemistry, leaving it at 100% SoC for an extended period will have a negative impact on the pack health. It's just that LFP packs will tolerate it better than NMC. (i.e. the impact is seen less quickly).
So both respondents are right - and wrong. :)
.. and it's likely also in every other (new) car from every other manufacturer too - like I said earlier. It's not an EV-only thing, nor solely a Chinese thing either. ;)
Good advice .. but not necessary if you're calling using a mobile phone - once you hang up the call is disconnected; it's only with a landline where that technique can be used. And I'm not sure if that still even works with the new digital network (i.e. calls via your Internet connection rather...
