    Only if the car is registered in your own name. If it's a lease car, the normal insurance companies won't pay out for a new car.

    Great, thank you. I went to a different insurer in the end that did not ask about Cat numbers and got a better deal anyway.

    Did you get an answer on this as I've just got an insurance quote for my car coming next week and they state on the policy that unless it's a Cat 1 alarm, you're not covered for it being stolen?
