Does it stop heating element activating if running mode is changed for max ECO or something ? other EVs I've had have shut off the heater unless in normal or sport...

It won't have any issues going up hills, the way an EV produces the torque is different to a small ice vehicle, only time you'll notice it is if you're used to another EV with same power but more torque & you drive them back to back but as you're new to the EV world I'm pretty sure it'll be fine...
